How much food are you feeding in the morning? It may not be enough to keep your cat's tummy satisfied all day long. Volume-wise it seems like a lot, especially canned foods, but calorie-wise it's not. Hungry cats will seek out food to eat and that may mean bothering the fish or other animals you may have.

You can use a programmable timed feeder to offer meals to your cat when you are not at home. Such feeders can be used for both dry and canned foods.

you need a food that is heavy with protein to fill her up and help her body function. If her food doesn't have meat protein as it's first ingredient she is in survival mode when she goes for the fish. Try to find a good food with MEAT protein as the first ingredient, then give her a whole can or at least a 1/3 of cup for breakfast and another 1/3 cup for dinner. Twice a day.

Until she's a year old she ought to have three meals - breakfast before you leave, lunch when you get home and dinner before bed. You ought to leave dry out for her to snack on while you are gone. Kittens need a lot of food to grow up healthy.

right now she knows she needs more food. She doesn't blame you for not being able to hunt well enough to provide what she needs. She's willing to help by getting a few fish. She's a very good cat.

You can give her a "lunch" when you get home from work and then "dinner" right before you go to sleep.

I know you've been wondering about her being a bit too aggressive, and I think she may just be hungry.

How big is the fish tank? Does it have a full cover? Usually if a tank is larger and set up properly there's not much a cat can do. If it's a small tank, can you move the tank instead of the cat?

And, I mean, if she's not getting enough to eat that could cause a lot of problems, but I think it's pretty natural for kitties to bat at fish and birds :D.

Why not put the fish tank in your room and let Spooky have the rest of the house while you're gone?
My son loves fish. He has a 60 gal., a 45 gal, 4-10 gal. in his room, a 5 gal. in the main bathroom and another 10 gal. quarantine tank in my bathroom. All doors are shut because...3 cats.

If it's at least a 10 gallon, and is on a sturdy stand, she shouldn't be able to push it or anything because it weighs at least 100 pounds. So just get a nice solid top for it and everyone should be fine.

Isn't Spooky a kitten? If so, she should ideally be given three meals a day.

My boy eats 2 wet food meals (3oz can for breakfast & dinner) and dry food available after he finished his wet food (he eats 1/4 cup of kitten dry food per day.) He is 7 months old and a smaller sized kitty. I have even seen him eat 3 cans in one day before!

Generally speaking if they are 18 months or less, if you think they might be hungry, feed them more.

I have noticed my trouble maker is well a pest getting into one thing or another at 7 months old. It can be resolved by feeding him or playing with him.... and then my sweet little angel is back!
