This cat with a collar has been in my background for months. I thought it was an outside/indoor cat but it has not left my backyard for months now and got much skinnier even though I have been feeding it every time I see it. Now, one side of its face has no fur and spots with blood. I uploaded a picture, I have no idea what to do. I don’t have any money for a vet but it’s face looks painful. It acts normal, it eats and rubs all over me. Does anyone know what could’ve happened to it’s face and what I should do?

If it has a collar it must have been someone's pet... So either it's lost or abandoned. If you could somehow find a way to get it checked out at a vet that would be the best option. Also might have a micro chip and that could track down the owner. You could also post on a lost pet site in your area to see if anyone is missing this cat.

Thank you for feeding this kitty and caring! Vets will usually do a microchip check for free. If you can take the kitty in you may find the owner. The vet may be able to give you a clue about the facial problem too. It could have been injured or it could even be an allergy. I have a cat that is allergic to flea bites and she was losing fur/ bleeding when I found her. Flea treatments allowed her to heal. surya surya gave excellent advice. Facebook is a good place to find help for her.
Please keep posting and let us know what’s going on as you pursue help.

My guess is that he has a festering abscess that hasn't broken yet, and he's scratching at it because it hurts. If so, it'll burst soon and look really nasty. He should have antibiotics.

Try putting a note on his collar with your phone number and see if anyone calls.

Oh, by the way, I can't tell for certain from the photo, is it a breakaway collar? If not maybe you could replace it with one :)
