What's the best schedule of feeding canned food? They are now on dry at 7am and wet at 2pm, 6pm and 11 PM.
They just got over clostridium and not knowing what caused it.
I'm trying to figure out the best feeding rotation. They say to rotate proteins. But is it better or worse giving them so many in one day/week etc.
I just recently moved to 3 wet feedings. Is it ok if the cat can handle it to give 3 different flavors every day? Is it better or worse to feed the same food for a few days or weeks then change. Seems like it would be a diet change?

I’m offering different kind of meat throughout the day. The way I see it is that if i had chicken for breakfast, would I want to have chicken for lunch and chicken for dinner as well?
I couldn’t feed my cats the same flavours everyday because they would be bored with it within few weeks. They appreciate variety.

I do 7am and 7pm. I switch flavors everyday, it doesn't hurt them. I think dry food is the only thing that they say not to switch too much.

I free feed with kibble and only give wet food once a day (used to give two times a day but reduced after vet recommendation), but I do change the food every day and had no unwanted effects of this. Only thing that it did was to discover a food Count was allergic to.

I tried rotating brands and flavors of foods. I thought the boys woild like variety. I kept notes on which ones they liked. I found there was little consistency as to their preferences and they started becoming even more finicky.

We now stick to the one brand/flavor of wet and one brand/flavor of dry.

I feed different meats for my cats every day. 3 meals of canned food. My cats are given Nutro perfect portions in the morning(chicken, beef,or turkey) plates or cuts in gravy. Next 2 meals canned. Nutro is perfect if you have a cat that goes back for seconds!

Most cats are okay with their food being rotated, as long as it's wet. Every cat is different though, so some kitties might be a little more finicky or sensitive and prefer a few staples rather than frequent rotations.

I'm concerned as they are getting diarrhea again. They had clostridium and dont know if the adding of new foods is causing it. I just dont know if once they keep getting the same foods will the diarrhea go away or is the specific food not agreeing with them?

Have you tried slowly transitioning food? It might take a few days. Mix in a little of the new food with old. Then more and more

We were feeding sooooo many different varieties of canned food that my cats were getting pickier and pickier. They went from eating anything, to sniffing and walking away. We now stick to two brands, and rotate between chicken and turkey.....my calico has issues with fish it seems, so we avoid that. They eat those happily all the time. I did choose pate and cuts in gravy varieties....not just one or the other.....and they do eat both but prefer the cuts in gravy (they still get pate daily though!).
We are headed to Florida tomorrow, so I plan to bring back a whole bunch of different brands that aren't available here in Canada for them to try out!
