How long do you think it takes to go away. If it was wet food related? I hate trying to feed more canned food. As it always seems to cause problems.
Trying to add new flavors and brands. But at least one cat has diarrhea. :(
I started giving alli the Royal canin urinary so pate and it may be from that. I have to start poop patrol to see who it is. He had the RC urinary with gravy before that. Not sure how different it is. I guess I need to cut back to one or two flavors to see if it subsides

Yea, Allie is also super sensitive to not canned but dry food switching..She also started getting wet poop so I moved her back to the usual and as soon as she gets normal I will try a slow transition again..

I also keep probiodics on hand for these situations

Just as I was typing the following - Burts Burts came along and said pretty much the same thing.

Can you go back to feeding them whatever they were eating before the diarrhea started - and, see if that stops the diarrhea? If so, then add one new food - gradually decreasing the "old" food and increasing the "new".

Typically abrupt changes to foods can cause diarrhea, and in many cases that will stop overtime. But, adding/changing food multiple times is too confusing in terms of determining of one or more if them are going to create issues.

I'm going to stop the fish and purina pro plan. But I'm wondering how soon it would go back to normal? I'm not sure if it was one food or because of the adding of new foods. They had clostridium and worry it's coming back. Sucks they don't drink enough water. I have had more problems since putting them on more wet diet. :(

I can't say for sure how long it will take to stop the diarrhea if the new foods were causing it. But, once they are entirely back on the 'old' food, I can't imagine you wouldn't start seeing some improvement within a few days.

If you are worried about the clostridium, taking a stool sample into the vets for testing again might be something you would want to consider. I don't know how long they were on antibiotics for that, nor how long it has been since they completed treatment. Perhaps, the treatment wasn't long enough?

Cats aren't big water drinkers to begin with, and it is relatively normal to see some decrease in their water intake when they are on wet food as they are receiving more moisture through the wet food than they would with dry. Hence the reduction in drinking water.

I cut out the hairball food from Allie’s diet and in a week her stools were firm again..So I started adding just a little bit of hairball food again and her stools is runny again..

I dont think she can tolerate the hairball food so I cut it out again today...If her stools get firm again and it should I will know she cannot handle the iams hairball food at all...

It might not just be Iams hairball food, it could Iams altogether. If you think hairballs are truly an issue, once you get her stools firm again, you can try pumpkin (no spices), raw egg yolks (whites must be cooked), or even butter/margarine to help with hairballs. Personally, I'd start with a dab of butter/margarine from your finger or on her paw, if she will lick it.

Darn no dice

I tried again, got Allie’s stools firm on iams urinary and only added tiny amounts of iams hairball the last couple days...Mushy stools again, wierd how she cannot tolerate the hairball formula..

Once firm I will try tiny amounts of iams healthy digestion mixed in...Oliver eats a mix of hairball with healthy digestion...The iams urinary was initially for Oliver not Allie....

I hope she tolerates the healthy digestion..Sigh
