I bought a bag each of turkey and chicken yesterday ($10.99 for the bag here) and fed some (1.5 medallions each) to the cats today for lunch and they loved it. I'm hoping they like the chicken, too.

It does look quite a bit like Rad Cat. And I have to say that having the food pre-portioned is a treat for me.

LTS3 LTS3 and C cat princesses , I hope your cats are continuing to do well with it!

The store also gave me some Smallbatch samples -- lamb and duck -- though based on what others have said on the site about Smallbatch, I'm not going to raise my expectations. (And they were honest at the store: the duck and lamb were rejects from an employee's very picky cat!) Plus Smallbatch does have bone, which I'm trying to reduce.

Anyway, Edwina and Ireland say "paws up" on Stella's Selects. At least the turkey! :p

Leroy's tummy is handling the Stella and Chewy's well but then again he's only getting one medallion a day as a snack. The medallions are so low calorie (27) that I would need to feed two medallions to equal a meal of one NV rabbit medallion. His poop still isn't room clearing :yess: It still has a slight odor. No idea why one Stella and Chewy's medallion a day can make a huge difference in poop.

I asked S&C for the dmb phosphorus values and they said that it is 1.08 for both chicken and turkey. Not as low as Rad Cat, and also I don’t like the ingredients as much as I liked Rad Cat’s ingredients (I also don’t trust S&C as a company in terms of their meat sources as much as I trusted Rad Cat). But, I’d say this is comparable to Primal’s Turkey nuggets which are also 1.08 ph. The difference being the lack of veggies and bone which may be better for IBD kitties.

All in all, I may give it a shot, but I wouldn’t consider it comparable to Rad Cat.

My two cents... :2cents:

I trusted Rad Cat more than anybody else -- and no, nothing compares to Rad Cat. Rad Cat alternative, sure, but nothing can replace it.

For my checklist, the S&C food is a couple steps above Primal: no bone, which is a definite irritant for one of our cats, plus no clay and no vegetables. The cats are getting two Primal meals a day right now and I'm thinking I may switch one of those out for the S&C if they continue to like it. I'd really like to get their bone intake down so I can cut out the pumpkin and keep Ireland eating!

Thank you for checking on the phosphorus! Anything in that range sounds more than reasonable for our cats.

I haven't purchased the Medallions yet, but my 17* year old cat (Buddy) prefers Stella & Chewy Morsels over all else (even canned fish). I hide it from the other cats... way to expensive to feed them all S&C. Sure wish I'd win the lottery! Buddy will sit by the cabinet where I keep it, even if there's canned salmon in his dish, as a "hint" he wants it. If I go near the cabinet, he runs over and watches my hands (hoping there's S&Cs in it). I mix the Morsels with bottled water, so when I pick up a bottle, Buddy follows me around, thinking I'm going to give him some S&C. [LOL! I just got the bags out, to look at them, and Buddy is all over me! Ohhh! I hate to disappoint!] He absolutely LOVES S&C! The other cats do, too, but it's been a while since they've had it. (I hate depriving them of something they love so much, but... $$.)

So, this is an endorsement for the Morsels. I'll try the Medallions after I've saved some pennies.

Ugh, well, my 1 cat ate one of the stella medallions in the turkey and I thought this is great, but she won't touch it since. My other one loves the turkey and she gets 1 medallion at night for a bed time snack ( she is my IBS cat so I'm happy she is eating the medallions with no issues ).
I also feed them the Stella & Chewy Freeze dry Paw lickin Salmon & Chicken but the one that turned her nose up to the medallions seems to get constipated from it I guess due to the bone content. I noticed her poops were getting smaller and smaller and then caramel in color. I ran and got miralax and gave her 1/4 tsp Wed night in some baby food and again she got 1/4 tsp Thursday Am and she finally had a poop Thursday late morning. My question is, do I keep up with the miralax daily since she is going to continue to eat the freeze dry?
I also tried the small batch rabbit but they are hot and cold on that, will probably end up tossing out the bag since it's more of a miss than a hit.

You can. I give my two 14-year-olds 1/8 tsp. of Miralax in the morning and 1/8 tsp. in the evening. I supplement with eggshell calcium not bone, but as they’ve gotten older, they’re more prone to constipation. They definitely had issues when they were getting bone which is why I stopped grinding bone!

Mine were indifferent to Small Batch, too, but the store where I bought it took it back and refunded my money.

Yup, our vet always reminds us about diminishing motility! Which is one reason I'm glad our cats seem to like the new S&C medallions, which are boneless.

I have a store sample of about 10 Small Batch discs to try out on them (lamb and duck) but probably wouldn't feed them much even if they love it since Small Batch has bone and I'd rather not introduce more bone into their diet! (As it is, I'm thinking of axing the cats' second Primal meal of the day to reduce bone.)

I hadn't even heard of them. Did your cats already try them? If so, how did they go over? They sound pretty good, particularly since there's no bone. I guess the calcium is from the calcium carbonate, so basically (I guess?...) pretty much like egg shell?
