My 4 year old boy Binx had some urinary issues. 2 years ago he was going outside the litter box, having troubles urinating and when he did it was bloody. I brought him to 4 different vets and a ton of vet visits. Finally they found an abnormality in his bladder. They did surgery and he has been fine.. until now.

There's a cat in my neighborhood. He has an owner but the owner refuses to take care of him. He was limping and having issues and his owner refused to bring him to the vet so I did. Turned out he broke 2 bones in his foot. The vet said he'd be ok without a splint but should stay inside for awhile to heal and so I can give him his meds daily. I call him Buddy.

So Buddy has been inside my house since Wednesday, and just today (Sunday) Binx started howling while trying to use the litter box and it was bloody. Could having Buddy inside be causing Binx to have this issues? How do I know if it's stress causing Binx to have these issues or if it's something that he's going to need surgery again?

I don't want to just kick Buddy back outside, but I also need to make sure I'm taking care of my cats as well. Help please!

Hi!

How are they interacting?

Binx started howling while trying to use the litter box
It could be stress, but also it might not be related to Buddy at all.

I do think that Binx needs to see a vet again as soon as possible - him howling like that means this is an urgent situation.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it is something that's treatable possibly without surgery.

In the meantime try to keep them separate if they are unsettled with each other and cranky. Also try classical harp music, the app Relax My Cat or MusicForCats . com

Yes, Binx needs to be seen by a vet. Don't know what the abnormality was when he had surgery, but maybe it has reoccurred. Were you told to avoid stress with Binx?
Have the two been showing any signs of issues with each other?
As Furballsmom Furballsmom said, just keep them separated. And, hopefully you can take of both of them for now.

Most likely, it's the stress causing a flare up of his urinary issues. Binx definitely needs to get to the vet ASAP to treat the issue. You might also want to check into getting a Feliway diffuser to help de-stress your home.
