Snowball was on Famciclovir 14 days for herpes virus n he finished up this past Saturday.And since he finished the antibiotic he seems to not feel well.Seems lethargic :not hungry;Is this normal for a cat after antibiotic is finished

Famciclovir is an anti-viral med, not really an antibiotic. But, nonetheless, I haven't heard of lethargy being a side effect. Not to say that it definitely isn't, so I hope other members who have used this med can offer you their first hand experience with it. Does he have any of the 'typical' side effects? Such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or a low-grade fever? If so, perhaps those side effects are actually causing the lethargy. It can cause stomach troubles, just like antibiotics, if not given with food when administered.
Probably would be a good idea to call your vet and tell them about how Snowball is acting.

Well hes not on it now.He finished it this past Saturday.And today hes acting like he dont feel well.While he was taking it he had no side effects to b noted.He seem to feel ok.But what im asking is being hes just finished ;is it normal for him to act sluggish??

I don't think he should feel lethargic. When you took him to the vet initially, what were his symptoms? It's possible he has a secondary infection that is not being treated and is causing the problems.

Waiting for vet to call back.He is almost 11 yrs old n he didn't sleep well last night had a storm.Hoping thats whats wrong with him today.Got Feliways but aint had them that long.Initially he has the herpes virus.Thats why the vet gave Famciclovir
It is definitely a possibility. Storms freak Feeby out, but at 14+, she sleeps a lot anyway, so I can never tell the difference.
The virus by itself causes lethargy. My cats were very lethargic for almost two weeks. Didn't want to eat much either.

Did the vet actually diagnose herpes virus by running labs or tests? Or did they just "diagnose" this based off clinical signs? There are dozens of infections that have identical symptoms and some of them are only treatable with certain medications. The symptoms will go away on antibiotics and return shortly after treatment is finished because it was an ineffective treatment. I had a kitten with chronic URIs and eventually we took him to the right vet who ran a respiratory PCR panel and BOOM. We got the right medication and never looked back. Before starting another medication or treatment I would recommend asking your vet about the Respiratory PCR because this gives an actual diagnosis.
If indeed your cat has herpes virus then I know it is just a matter of keeping symptoms at bay. I am sorry your kitty is not feeling well

I hate to say anything definitive because I am not clinically trained but I would recommend against taking clinical signs as a for sure diagnosis. Nothing against you or your vet, just trying to be helpful
A lot of vets are unaware of the modern PCR testing available and it took me 5 tries to find someone who was more willing to take this approach! My poor Richard was told he had "just a little herpes virus" after the first vet appointment. 2 months later after $850 and one emergency vet visit, I finally had enough and took him somewhere else. That PCR panel was what saved Richard from the chronic symptoms that kept returning and worsening with each relapse.

here is a link to some information about the PCR Panel. It also tells you what main infections it diagnosis. I actually went a step further and researched each of the infections and compared to the clinical signs Richard was having. It can be very empowering information!!

I remember now I did ask about if there was a test to see if snowball had herpes virus n he said really wont no need that it would probably come back positive cause snowball was showing all the signs with the conjunctivitis n sneezing n redness on the fir beneath the eye
