I remember in the 70's and 80's when most "fancy" restaurants would put one sprig of parsley on your plate for decoration. I used to love to eat the sprig when I was on a date....just to see if I'd get a reaction.

Me: Stuffs the parsley sprig in my mouth.
Date: Ewww. Are you supposed to eat that?
Me: Yes, if you want to.
Date: What's it taste like?
Me: Freshly mown lawn grass.

Occasionally that was the final date. :p

Bruce is ok :woohoo:

Isn't parsley supposed to help with digestion or freshen the breath? I remember curly kale leaves put on plates at Friendly's as decoration. I never ate it.

I still have a few containers of pasta to finish up. Can I freeze a pasta dish?

i think that can depend on the particular pasta dish, like some of the veggies, sauce, or other ingredients in it. what i usually do is try freezing a small container, for a week or two, and then thaw it in the fridge and heat some up/try some -- to see how it freezes.

for example -- for stuffed peppers that i've frozen, i've found that the tomato sauce can become a little watery. so when i thaw a container of them, i'll add a little tomato paste and mix that in, which fixes it.

i'll microwave a potato, heat up some no bean chili, and serve the chili over the potato. several wedges of tomato with a little blue cheese salad dressing drizzled over them. and a slice of Russian Pound Cake for dessert -- later in the evening. :yummy:

I have tried to freeze some pasta dishes; without much luck.

The pasta becomes very soft and mushy.

I think the secret is to plan on freezing, before cooking. If you do, then make the pasta really al dente, so that while freezings it can absorb more of the sauce, and not overcook, when re-heating.

Good Luck.

I would just try one small container.. as an experiment.

I ate the parsley sprig, for health purposes.

AAAANNNNNNDDDDDD LTS3 LTS3 got it! Parsley was originally put on plates, not as a decoration but because it is a natural breath freshener. So, EAT THAT PARSLEY and kiss someone!

Perhaps...hot dogs? :)
Actually, yes. How on earth did you guess?

Tonight, it is raining cats and dogs, so I'm going to do grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup.

I freeze pasta dishes all the time. But as others replied, sometimes the pasta comes out mushy. Can't hurt to try freezing it though and seeing what happens.

I had a Romaine Mix Salad and one of my Mushroom pizzas on Naan tonight.

I've been amiss about posting in here.

I have chicken thighs marinating in the fridge. Made some potato salad last night, along with a small pan of chocolate brownies. I really thought I could keep the brownies until dinner tonight. Silly me. Alas, Dear Richard spotted them and there might be two small pieces of brownies left. I threw together some iced tea; alas, our mint isn't up yet in the garden. Man, I could really go with a glass of mint tea. :yummy:

So I'm now thinking about peach cobbler, using a jar of the peaches I canned last summer. Grilled chicken, potato salad, and peach cobbler. With (non-mint) iced tea. That works for me.

I pulled up my recipe for chocolate meringue cookies with chocolate chips yesterday, but decided to wait 'til today, fearing I might eat cookies for dinner. Today I'll make cookies and may eat the whole batch and not be hungry for "real food". :p If I show any sort of unlikely self-restraint, I'll have another calzone for dinner and eat a few cookies for desert.

When I needed mint for tzatziki sauce, I bought a spearmint plant instead of a bundle of cut mint leaves for about the same price, but the mint plant will provide fresh mint for months! :yummy: It is really great in tea!

Weather here today told me that tonight was a soup night.I fixed tomato and basil soup and made grilled cheese sammies.Absolutely hit the spot!
Nothing like a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich on a chilly rainy night.
