I'm always protective of Prince and Nikita, and I love them to bits but I just realized something that I feel terrible about and I need to share....It was a mistake but still....First things first, I've started my new career as a teacher assistant while waiting to finish my current job as a custodian. So, since last Thursday, I've been going in at 8 in the morning until 2 in the evening to come home and go to work at 2:30 until 11:30. So, that's been going on for a week, not much has been going on. Around the time I started over there, around the weekend, I noticed one of the two water dishes had some weird thing in it that looked like a growth, so I put it in the sink while filling up the second, larger, water bowl....

dealing with the lack of a break between jobs and so forth, I've made sure to take care of feeding Prince and Nikita when I wake up and when I come home, twice a day. I just noticed, however, when Prince tried licking at my wine glass when I came home tonight that the larger water dish was empty and the other dish was still in the sink waiting to be cleaned. I quickly filled up the water bowl but oh my god I feel completely terrible, you cannot know how horrible I feel. Watching Prince and Nikita drink up the water, I came close to bawling my eyes out because I cannot remember when the last time I filled up the water for them. It may have only been a few days, but oh my god...God, I don't even know, I feel horrible, I can't even describe. I've never slipped up like that before and I wouldn't normally. I think just having those hours....Thank god tomorrow is my last day for the custodial job, and I'll be on full time as a teacher assistant from like 10 to 6. I don't know what happened, maybe exhaustion or something but oh god...

~ When we are tired all sorts odd things can happen. One thing doctors neglect to ask patients is how are they sleeping.
Did you consider an auto-fill water bowls for pets ?
Best wishes ...:hellocomputer:

Aww sweetie, don't beat yourself up about it. I've done the same thing. I have chronic insomnia due to other issues and have not noticed empty water bowls. Now I keep 2 big water dishes upstairs and down and a big jug of water in the frig.

Good luck on the new job!!!

Hugs,

Mia

Don't beat yourself up. Everybody makes mistakes. Bottom line, your cats are fine. Wednesday I had been shopping all afternoon before I went to church. After church we had refreshments to celebrate the birthdays this month. By the time we got home after nine, I was zapped. I came in the door and made my preparations to go to bed. Not until Thursday morning did I remember that I had come home and forgotten to feed Snoop. I petted him more yesterday and gave him some extra food. He didn't understand why, but he loved the extra attention.

:hugs: All's well that ends well, right? It was an honest mistake, the kitties are OK, and I'll bet you'll make sure it doesn't happen again. We're only human. :hearthrob:

Sometimes when I’m trying to sleep in in the morning and Gohan is trying to knock everything over and eat all the wires on the house I realize we forgot to feed them ... we all do it, don’t feel so bad!

I've forgotten to feed the cats once when I got totally wasted. I felt really horrible. They still spent the night sleeping on me.

I forgot my kitty at the vet last month.....:eek2:
Both my husband and I went with two of my cats. At the end of the visit, we bought a bunch of stuff as well. I saw my husband take two trips to the car and when he did this, I thought one of the trips was bringing one the carriers to the car. So I finished paying, grabbed my purse and the medications and we went home. Our kitties are very quiet in the car and don't say a peep so we did not notice anything was amiss.
A 30 minute drive later, we get home and I step out of the car and open the back door....and one cat is missing!!!! Holy crap, we panicked. We both had no idea what happened, I thought he took the cat, he thought I took the cat. We wondered if we left her in the parking lot...we just didn't know. So I run back onto the house call the vets office and ask them if they see her anywhere. Thankfully, the receptionist said she was sitting all comfy in her carrier in the waiting room area. We drove back right away to go get her. Let me tell you, she got SO MUCH loving that night!!
When we went back for our follow up this past week, the receptionist made a point to remind us to take our cats home.
We all make mistakes and especially when things are stressful and we are tired. Don't beat yourself up about it. :heartshape:
