Can anyone recommend an at home urine testing kit for cats? And a method of collecting?
I bought some but realized they are for humans. Not sure if that makes a difference. Also not sure if the method of collecting makes a difference in this case. I didn't have a cup of urine to stick the strip in so I just put the strip on the pad (I use the Breeze system) right after she peed.

The test said she had high Leukocytes which indicates infection. I did it three times and the results were the same. But again, it was a human test.

Thank you

You can look up cat urine testing strips on the internet. But, once you find them and buy them, if they also test positive for an infection, what is your next step? Do you have a vet that has already agreed to take the results as valid and prescribe an antobiotic? If so, they would have recommended a strip for you to buy.

If you can actually catch urine in a sterile container, most vets will accept that for testing. You can always call your vet and ask. But, to be sure you know what kind of infection you are dealing with you need not only a urinalysis but a urine culture as well.

Human urine test strips work just fine and what many diabetic cat owners use to monitor their cats in addition to blood glucise testing. You want the regular urine strips. Ketodiastix is one brand name. Ither brands of urine test strips work just as well and some may test for other things like ph.

Litter or pads may affect the reading. Try sticking the strip right into the urine as the cat is peeking. Or use a long handled spoon to collect the urine from the cat and then put the strip into that. If your cat isn't too fussy, get a new box and put some thoroughly rinsed fish tank pebbles or decorative glass craft pebbles into the box. After the cat pets, tip the box to pool up the pre in a corner and put the strip into that.

It was kind of an experiment, I guess. I bought the strips a while ago and forgot about them. My vet mentioned testing her glucose when my cat seemed to be drinking a lot (she seems to be drinking normal now). But, it was kind of in passing like, add it to the list of other tests we can do. We've been there for so many tests.
