I'm guilty of some of these.

I threw out a bunch of used notebooks and the cardboard boxes my rat got to a while ago. But then the shipment of african violet leaves came in and I got twice as many leaves as I was expecting. Goodbye space! At least having pots of african violets is better than stacks of random paper!

Haven't done much yet, but one of my goals this year is to be decluttered and organized by Christmas. Good luck to me. This past weekend I started going through a closet that is crammed with stuff. Took some old cat beds and drinking fountain to the rescue and donated some bags that I'll never use. It's a start, and I hope I have the energy to keep at it.

So far I feel I am failing miserably at this decluttering thing. :dunno:

Relocating is the only way to declutter for me... That's what I did when I moved to this place 5 years ago.
I donated half of my kitchenware and furniture to a thrift shop.
I kept all my books and the bookshelf, but the books are still in boxes and the shelf is not yet assembled. Sigh...
I'm the same. I moved and got rid of stuff, including the bookcase. But the new one is unassembled in the corner, and books still in boxes.

I finally finished going through manuals and receipts and got rid of a full tote.

Haven't decluttered but am watching Marie Kondo's new programme on Netflix which is making me want to sort out the house!
Me too! So far I've gone through my clothes and books. I started on paperwork then realized I forgot my daycare books so I'm going back to those.

I told my family I wouldn't get rid of any of their things or pressure them to, but I'd help them if they wanted. I was 3 weeks into my stuff and giving up hope on my family, but last weekend my hubby started going through his clothes and our 14 yr old went through his desk. :woo:

My house keeps becoming more and more of a disaster with having to move things around for work being done in the house, furniture deliveries, etc.

I've been purging all of our queen-sized bedding since we now have a king-sized bed.

I cleaned out the walk in closet and ended up filling three large plastic trash bags with things I never wear/use. And there's still plenty in there to wear. I can't believe I had that much stuff. :paperbag:

I changed the hardware on my dresser, bureau and nightstand and ended up with 4 trash bags to get rid off plus other items to donate.

I've been SLOWLY trying to declutter. But it seems like all I do is move things from one place to another. I've gotten rid of old clothes and books, but nothing seems to really make a dent. Now I have until June to get things together and organized because all of us at work have decided to get together and have a "multi-family" yard sale in the parking lot outside our office (we have permission). And whatever I don't sell, I will donate to good will.
The problem with this? I will probably end up going home with things my co-workers are selling.

I have the same problem! I've had to stay away from yard sales, Facebook marketplace, and anywhere else I'd be tempted to shop. ;)

BTW, my hubby got me the Kindle book "Decluttering at the Speed of Life" by Dana White and she has some good tips to help you make visible progress. I prefer the KonMari method overall, but have adopted some of Dana's ideas too.

They had a Hazardous Waste collection Day in my town yesterday and we got rid of a lot of old paint, pesticides, etc.

Our town is starting a door-to-door hazardous & difficult to recycle materials collection in May. They will pick up any items on their list right from your front door. Now I have no excuse and have to get busy. We've lived here over 20 yrs. and still have paint cans in the garage from the previous owners. :rolleyes2:

I took a heap of good quality but no longer needed jigsaws and put them on a friend's market stall. I made $50 and took the ones that didn't sell to the Op Shop.
I also went a little radical with a clothes cull and gave them to charity as well.
I'm feeling rather good about it all.

Fourteen years here and ditto. They don't take latex paint so I am going to buy some stuff to start drying it up.

I periodically go through my books and give them to my mother. She reads what she wants and passes the rest along at the Senior Center. I'm starting to go through them again.

I was thinking about just having someone 'doze my whole house into a big hole in the ground, after removing roommate and cats, of course . . . .
