has anyone noticed any change in texture of Rawz Rabbit pate? One of my cat is refusing to eat what was his favorite food and well, it’s to be expected since he is a cat, but I noticed that the texture looks different now, it’s more firm, and the other cat is eating it but in a different way, before it took her 30 seconds to inhale it, now she still visibly likes it, but eats it normally, it takes longer, as it seems to be less liquidy... Has anyone experienced any change as well?

I had sort of reverse experience with Turkey. First can was pate, later cans I bought were very soupy. I contacted Rawz and their explanation was due to extreme temp change from manufacture - transport - resale store, that specific batch (Best By Date of 072021) of Turkey can become super soupy. They recommended to wait until next batch if my kitties are not a fan of soupy version.

Mystery solved!

You just saved Krista so much (more) grief!

I too noticed the soupy turkey cans. This must be why Krista hasn't been a fan of turkey in awhile. I found five more cans of the 072021 batch in my pantry and one more in the fridge that she didn't care for yesterday. I have four cans that are not of this batch. I will hang onto those and take the others back to the store. I had mentioned to the store that I was opening up soupy cans and they told me to bring back them all back from that batch. It's honestly been so long since I've seen a good turkey can, I started doubting myself and thought maybe I caused them in transport somehow.

What's the Best Buy Date for the drier rabbit? I noticed Krista hasn't been quite as fond as rabbit lately as before. I wonder if she is also getting these cans too. I got her to polish a rabbit plate by mixing a pump of salmon oil into the can because duck is the only flavor she will polish plates now and duck has salmon oil in it.

Ha ha well mine are definitely into soupy ones more :) even adding water doesn’t help, but I’ll try with other liquids/ oils.

The firmer rabbit ones are best by 11/2021

I'd check my rabbit cans but Krista is here on the desk thanking me profusely for figuring out salmon oil into the rabbit.
:petcat::purr:

She highly endorses that addition if you want to see if you can salvage the firmer rabbit cans.

I wonder ... based on their explanation if you put a can in freezer (can we put can in freezer? or do we need to open? ) for few days, then took out to room temp, will it become soupy? Just a thought :headscratch:

I think all my rabbit cans are of that batch. And the store only has two cans left as of today. I told them last time they were running out so hopefully a new batch comes soon.

Another clean plate says I nailed it with the salmon oil addition.

I don’t reccomend freezing it in the can. However you could empty it to a ziplock baggie, press out as much air as possible and then freeze. I’m all for experiments. Please report back if you do.
