I'm sorry to say I'm not at all familiar with that brand. Did you read the back?

If real meat is the first ingredient, that's a big help. Also look for no grains, though that can be more expensive and I do know you are on a budget.

If you can find a sale on Trader Joe's food, it is grain free, and so is Fancy Feast.

Fancy feast is expensive now in my budget I probably can squeeze 30 cans but that is not enough for my 11 pound cat

I understand. I was unemployed for four months straight last year and the FF got kind of hard for me as well with as much as Aslan eats (9-12oz a day).

Friskies sells 24 of the big 5.5 oz cans for about 11 dollars on Amazon. It's not the best food but it's not horrible and it's very affordable.

I don't like it because the recipe is backwards. It should be meat, moisture, organs, and supplements. This is moisture, organs, meat, more organs, and supplements. I expect all the organs to make a mess of the litterbox. They suspect this too which is probably why rice flour is included. The other things I don't like are:

- titanium dioxide (sunscreen) and iron oxide (rust) as coloring agents
- carageenan, a known GI irritant
- guar gum, a suspected GI irritant and literally a filler: it expands to several times its volume when hydrated so less "food" is needed to fill a can (or a cat.)
- rice flour, serves no purpose in a cat's diet except maybe to keep an organ heavy food from causing diarrhea

To be honest though, Friskies isn't much better. Very similar recipe. It very well might also contain titanium dioxide and iron oxide as "Added Color".

But you do what you can within your means. I looked through that HEB site and don't see anything better at a comparable price. But certainly worse. I definitely wouldn't feed that EconoMax cat food which has soybean meal, wheat middlings, and ground corn in addition to all the other concerns of the other foods.

That said, aside from the rice flour, it's nearly all animal. It has that going for it. Cats don't care about "by-products" and neither should you. They will eat it all.

Seems about on par with Friskies. :) I'd feed this before a cheap dry food any day!

The Aldi grocery store canned cat food is one I use in addition to F2F canned classic pate, honestly I feel my cats like it better than F2F and it is cheaper plus made in Canada

Great news on keeping those stones at bay with a wet diet.
I thought about suggesting making some bone broth (very inexpensive, if you eat meat you just boil the bones down and feed the broth and throw away the bones) but I'm not too sure if this is a good idea for a cat with a history of stones, as the bone broth does contain a lot of minerals. I don't know if that could make stones worse :dunno:
I think you could do a whole lot worse for a lot more money, give it a try and see how they take to it :wave3:
Some cats like the odd bit of yogurt, cooked eggs or raw yolk, or bits of un-seasoned leftover meat scraps, only as an add on (not a complete diet) but it's a way to stretch the budget and give them treats while using up some leftovers.

If you can order online too, Chewy.com has Tiny Tiger that is 12.99 for 24 cans (currently have a 50% off coupon for first time orders) and American Journey is currently Buy 1 Get 1 Free ($22.99 for a pack of 24, so you'd get 48 cans for that price). They will refund your money if your cat doesn't like it.

Another option, if you have any Dollar Trees, they have 13 oz cans of Friskies for $1. And Walmart has Special Kitty food and 9lives foods that are quite cheap but can help stretch the budget!

I've been in the situation before where I didnt know if my cats would eat. I just watch for sales in the flyers and buy online a lot.

Those are both for 3 oz cans. The Hill Country Fare is 5.5 oz.

Tiny Tiger with the deal (limit one) comes out to 12.99 for 48 cans.
12.99/(48*3oz)= $0.09/oz

American Journey with the deal (limit one) is 22.99 for 48 cans
22.99/(48*3)=$0.16/oz

Friskies Pate @ 54 cents for 5.5 oz can
0.54/5.5 = $0.10/oz

Hill's Country Fare @ 42 cents for 5.5 oz can
0.42/5.5=$0.08/oz

Friskies Pate 32 x 5.5oz cans @ $16.64
16.64/(32*5.5)=$0.09/oz

Hill Country Fare is still the most economical.

Except the first two which reference a deal on Chewy, I used HEB for the rest because that's where I was able to find the Hill Country Fare.

Never been to an HEB, none are around here and no price listed that I had seen :) just giving options for a rotation if needed is all!

I don't know HEB either. That's just where I was able to find Hill County Fare food.

Tiny Tiger would be a great option if the deal weren't limited. I don't know how long 48 cans would last but it could be good for occasional treat meals.

My main concern is which of these brands had more recalls? I fear recalls sometimes cause I would not want to put my cat in danger I am very protective of my cat. I am trying my best to make sure she's well
