Happy April! And Happy April Fools Day to those of you who enjoy pranks!


What is the best trick you've ever played on someone?



Way back when DH and I had only been married maybe 2 years I took a screen shot of our desktop computer and made that the background. Then I pulled all the desktop icons into the trash can. It LOOKED like they were there; but none worked! He was not amused at the time!

I won't play any mean tricks. Now that we have kids I'm hesitant to pull any on my kids because I know they will come back to me someday!

But tonight my mother is pulling one on them by making a "cake" for dinner in a bundt pan. She found a recipe somewhere. She is going to tell them they are having cake for dinner. But really it's pizza. It sounds tasty to me!

I don't usually do pranks because I don't like them, but that pizza cake sounds fun & enjoyable. I wouldn't mind that type of prank.

The only time I've played a prank was when I was a child and put salt in the sugar bowl. Dad was not happy with his coffee.

The worst prank I remember was a few years ago when they announced on the news that Taco Bell had purchased the Liberty Bell and was getting ready to move it. A lot of people, including me, believed it.

I told my husband I was pregnant and he looked as though he was going to pass out.

I've put salt in tea before for April Fool's Day but apart from that I don't really play pranks. My mother celebrates her birthday on April 1 so I don't think it would be fair to pull a birthday prank!

I told a friend I had something to tell her but she couldn't tell anyone. She swore she wouldn't and I told her I won the state lottery! I went on and on for about 5 minutes, saying things like I don't want anyone asking me for money, charities contacting me, etc. She was so happy for me, talking about all the things I could do now. When I said April Fool! she wasn't happy that she'd believed it.

I can't think of too many pranks I've pulled but I did play a joke on someone in my exercise class today. We had a teacher for one of our classes that everyone adored but unfortunately she left. The new teacher is nice but not the same as our former instructor. I told one of my friends in class the new teacher had to leave for personal reasons and the old one is coming back - when she asked me what happened I told her, April Fool's! Unfortunately she didn't see the humor.

I did not go out so I haven't experienced any pranks. Is there something special that did happen on the first of April?

Last year I told my project manager that I quit the job.

She cried. Literally cried upset that I was leaving because we got along so well and she came to depend on me.

Then she got mad at me when I said April fools

Now I can’t quit the job even if I wanted to. Hello guilt lol

In college, the campus's College Republicans had a conservative newspaper that "hotlinked" a picture of mine to their website from my blog, so I changed the picture to something highly inappropriate so it showed up on their homepage. I still consider it the best thing I ever did in college, which kind of says a lot.

It involved a good, secure hiding spot, a very loud leaf blower and a Jason mask.

And I'll never do it again.

My mother ended up making spaghetti pie for the kids. I don't think she had time for the pizza cake after work.

I don't like mean pranks. But they can be done all in fun. A friend of mine told her daughter she had made brownies. When she lifted the foil it was a pan full of big brown letter "E"s. Under that was another layer of foil hiding actual brownies. Her daughter got a big kick out of it. She and her husband have also done Dunkin Donut boxes full of veggies. Her daughter tried to prank her dad with the box of veggies except my friend had changed it back to an actual box of donuts. It was very funny. It seems to fit their family dynamics. And everyone had their treat in the end.

My son bought some really real looking eggs and put them in my egg carton, but that was not for April Fool's Day. Since it is my birthday, no one does anything to me for April Fools.

When I was born, my grandparents thought my parents were joking that they had another girl.
