The biggest problem we having is the three farels ("Mama Stars" first kittens!) tend to think that all food we put out is theirs to eat. Mama Star doesn't live at our house and only comes by periodically. We're not about to give up on trapping her. We hope to out last her! They are ALL good for laughs!!

Well,,, our young feral (Little Bit , aka Raven) is back home after being Neutered. We drove through drizzling rain with some snow mixed in for one hour to pick her up, then through the rain/snow mix for the one hour drive home. On our way home, we decided that with the weather, surgery, and the medication(s) she received, we would keep her in the cage in my heated barn/shop for one more day. With the smells of being home, her heavy towel wrapped around the back end of the cage, her new "mousey", and a finger reaching through the bars of the cage and petting her head, made her into a purring machine!!

Our feral kitty was spayed yesterday.
Now because she had been in heat they suggested that we
keep her away from any intact males for at least two weeks.
Here's the question:
Since it has been 10 days to 2 weeks since we saw the toms following her,
Is it likely that she she still smells like she's in heat?
We don't want them to injure her.
For now she's still in the trap, in the heated pole barn, but I'm fairly
sure we can't keep her caged up in there for 2 more weeks.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cheri (Doug's wife)

Hi!
Can you create a larger temporary "pen" for her?
Yes, we are working a plan to make our "cat and kittens" crate into a temporary "pen" for Raven's security time. It's 28" W x 42" D x 32" H! Planning on a sleeping loft about 16" off of the floor to create more floor space for playing. The food dishes will also be mounted to the side wall to keep the floor clear too! Only a small litter box will be placed in a corner. We are hoping not to alter the crate in any way. ...Those are our plans.

Let us know how things go :vibes::crossfingers:
The temporary "pen" is is complete and is being used as we speak. I tied the "feral cat trap" to the small door of the temporary "pen" door. Then, I opened the drop door of the cat trap and locked it in the open position. Little Bit was able to check out her new digs at her own pace all day. Just before I went to the house to eat supper, Little Bit hoped up unto the fleece mat bed , started "making biscuits" and purring. If she appears ready, I'll remove the old (small) cat trap. I'll ask Cheri to send me some pictures to post here!

Fast forward to today. ..Raven (AKA Little Bit), has been exploring the inside of my Shop this past summer while I was working on the cat shed. Today I put a cat door in the bottom of the "man door", and Raven explored, would come up to me for some petting, and even set on my lap for some serious petting!! I really think she remembers her time getting to know her human who spent allot of time with her during her cagetime!.
