I see it asked here a lot but my cat seems to be different. She has one dialated pupil and one normal, both react to light. She plays like normal, gets into messes a lot, and all of her shots are up to date. She is a 2 year old, maine coone tabby mixed. It just happened so suddenly one second she goes to take a nap and when she woke up one eye was dialated and the other isnt. Now i know it is anisocoria, well i think it is but i am hoping to be wrong. Any thoughts?

Someone else will comment that knows more about this but I would call a vet just to be safe. Especially since it happened all of a sudden.

This could be a neurological or ocular disorder. In both cases it's wise to see a vet as soon as possible.

Thank you both, i have gone ahead and set up a vet appointment. I was really hoping it wasnt anything serious. I do know she is accident prone, she has way to much energy and is always getting injured.

High blood pressure could cause the pupil to be dilated. Usually both pupils are affected.

Update: Her vet said it is not dialated pupils but her third eye is showing up in her right eye. It looks like dialated pupils because one eye is bigger but it was actually her other eye that has an issue. They are running more tests on her now. Thank you all for your fast responses

Wow! Your original post was only two and a half hours before this one. How on earth did you manage to get her to the vet that quickly?!

And regardless, I'm very glad you did.

Update: oh and it was her cat litter in her eye ....... she is going to be fine. Thank you all for your wonderful response. ♡♡ I absolutely love this site! If you are all wondering she uses pine pellets and a piece of the pellet had gotten stuck in her right eye and irritated it.
