My Grandma's cat started giving birth a few hours ago and currently has 3 adorable kittens. It looks like she may have another one or two during the night, so it's a wait and see what we find in the morning.

Currently, she has one white kitten which was born first, but is taking the longest to dry off and fluff up and it looks like a female. The second kitten was a tabby and is the largest so far and has the thickest, fluffiest coat out of all three of them, and looks like it's a male. Last but not least (or at least so far) is a dark grey kitten with about medium length fur between them and is also getting rather fluffy and this one is harder to tell what gender it is, but so far thinking it's female.

I'm super excited since I haven't seen newborn kittens in a few years and I forgot just how tiny and fragile they look. Can't wait to see if Toots (mother cat) has anymore kittens overnight. She's very proud of her litter so far too. She stretches right out, showing them off and lets us pet her and them. She's kind of insistent on that actually since she keeps bringing us to her kittens and purring a lot lol.

Also, the black cat in the pictures is Monster, a 9 month old kitten from her last litter that my grandma decided to keep.

Toots is definitely very proud of her babies lol But I don't blame her since they are very adorable.

My grandma thinks the same thing about the white kitten. Apparently in the last litter or two that Toots has had, she's had at least one white kitten which every time has turned out to look like her.

They are most definitely very, very cute. Does your grandmother have homes lined up for them? I'm just curious what will become of the kittens. Perhaps you could talk to your grandmother about having Toots fixed? She's already had two litters and that's hard for a cat. Having her spayed really is in her best interest.

Yes, there are homes for all of the kittens and my grandma knows the people so they are going to very good, loving homes.
And she wants to get Toots fixed, but she's currently not a great financial situation to do that. She did get Monster fixed, and is saving up money to get Toots fixed up as well a little later when the kittens are weaned and all that good stuff is done and dealt with.

Kitten Update!

So the kittens are nearly 24 hours old now. I stopped in at my grandma's house to see if she had any more kittens, but she didn't. There were a few times Toots left the kittens and so I took the chance to try to get a better idea as to what gender the cats are. Of course, I could always be wrong on the gender as it is hard to tell when they're this young. But at this point, it looks like the grey and white kittens are females, and the tabby is a male. The one in question the most is the grey kitten. For some reason it seems a bit more clear and obvious with the other two, but the little grey isn't so easy to tell.

Also am fairly certain that I'm going to be adopting the little grey tabby. For some reason that's the one my heart goes to the most. I've learnt in the past to trust this gut feeling since it leads me to the animals that are meant to be in life. I already have an almost 2 year old female cat who's a brown tabby actually, so it could be fun to have a second furball around to run and play with my older cat.

Also, the little white kitten is starting to take on a little more of a cream hue so I'm pretty sure she's going to darken and end up looking like her mama ^.^

And now time for a few more pics :)

I was thinking the same thing; she's had two litters in nine months, so either there is an un-neutered male in the house or the cat goes outdoors and who knows who she mates with.

Mama is beautiful and I love the variety of the kittens! Has Grandma thought about having Toots spayed? She's had two litters in nine months; is there a male in the house or does she go outside for some action? Keep us updated and good luck!

She doesn't have much money so she ended up getting Monster fixed first and is working on saving up money to get Toots fixed up yet as well. Toots is an indoor and out door cat so it was a male in the great out doors that she mated with which is no doubt a dark colored tabby considering the color of the kits.

Can your grandmother keep Toots 100% inside until she is fixed? That will prevent another litter while she is saving up money.

Let us know if you would like help finding a lowcost clinic in your area.
I believe that's something she's trying to do, but keep in mind she's an elderly lady that just went through knee surgery so to stop a cat from running out unexpectedly isn't very easy for her to do.

And we live in a small town with only one vet option, so thanks for the offer, but there's no other place to search for cheaper clinics.

Can't get enough of how adorable the kittens are so I decided to draw the little cat family last night. Hard to believe in a few weeks they'll be running around like little maniacs lol Right now they still look so tiny and fragile.

Hello Goofball Ivy Goofball Ivy and adorable family, and welcome to TCS! Other members have already expressed the *AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWs* and given excellent advice on keeping mom indoors 100% and getting all spayed/neutered as soon as possible (Veterinary experts now advocate for s/n kittens at 2 pounds in weight or more, which is generally 2 months or above, and moms as soon as kittens are completely weaned, or around 8 weeks). It would be so great if maybe the whole family could help raise the funds for these and for baseline innoculations for the family as well.
Your art work is amazing, btw!!! *PRAYERS* and best wishes for mom and family, and for your grandmother (and you, too!):vibes:

They are adorable!!! I hope they all grow up healthy and well. I think everyone is talking about spaying out of concern. I know firsthand how pricey those first year vaccine/spat &neuter costs can be!

I would suggest that mom and kittens are fostered at your house or in a bedroom. That way if mom darts out the door, she can not escape the house. Lus kittens, well they are adorable trouble magnets! If the kittens are contained in a bedroom means they can not squeeze under a fridge or stove.

*I would take a picture of each kitten every week next to some object so you can chart their growth. Plus kitten pictures/videos are adorable!
