Have any of you used T-relief on your kitties? What were the results? I saw it on 1800 pet meds (and didn't realize until after I ordered it that Amazon has it for half the price) and decided to give it a shot for Cookie. She needs Cosequin daily at this point and I can tell her hips are a bit tender. I'm only giving one pill a day instead of the 3 recommended by 1800 pet meds because I really can't be spending extra money.

Oh, poor baby! Well, ordering from 1800petmeds at least you're more certain you're getting the product you want, as opposed to Amazon's third party/fake product mess that is going on. A person has to be really careful.

Can you double-check online with petmd . com, perhaps, and see what the recommended dose is there?

I'm not familiar with this, but hopefully someone who is will reply for you soon :)

I haven't found information from any sites I really trust. Petmd doesn't have any information, other than mentioning it in an article about vets not recommending homeopathic treatment. Most seem to say what 1800 pet meds says (some actually just copy and paste the information), which is 1 tablet 3x a day. I read Amazon reviews and some people said their vet recommended only half a pill each day.

Cookie is going to the vet tomorrow for her yearly senior panel so I can try to ask them but I don't expect to get much of an answer. Around here people apparently think that if it doesn't require a prescription it's junk. They don't even like Cosequin! I'm going to the vet farther away again in an effort to avoid the really rude vet. Every time I've done this to avoid her before she ends up being in whatever office I go to. I guess the vets around here rotate so you never know who you're going to get.

Hi. I don't know how severe Cookie's issues are, but I will tell you my vet was very supportive of me trying Glyco Flex Plus for Feeby. It can be ordered through multiple web sites, and it is around $10 a bag of 30 chews. The dosage is one a day, and it contains Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and Green lipped mussels. It is not prescription.

I started giving one chew a day to her because she had stopped jumping up on all of her favorite spots, and had a limp. I was surprised at how quickly it seemed to work for her. She no longer limps and is back to jumping up on all of her favorite spots. Feeby is 14+, has some arthritis in one elbow, as well as two nearly-fused vertebrae in her upper spine. She's been on Glyco for about 3 months now.

I'm glad Glyco worked for Feeby! Cookie doesn't do chews. She'll only eat crunchy things unfortunately. If it came in a powder I could mix in her food it would be great!

Green lipped mussel could be a good alternative to fish oil though. Some sites seem to say it's more effective. She doesn't hate fish oil but she also doesn't exactly look forward to it. Chewy has Super Snouts GLM powder which is $17 for 240 scoops, and at 1 scoop (250 mg) per day It's only $0.07 per day. T-relief is $0.12 per pill from Vitacost, Cosequin is $0.20 per pill.... shoot that's nearly $0.40 per day just in supplements.

Well the vet appointment had to be rescheduled for Monday because they need the bloodwork done before 3 and that's the only day I can get there that early. I guess I have to wait to ask about t-relief :dunno: I mean, I'm giving it to her regardless of the long lecture they're going to give me about homeopathic stuff being ineffective, but it would be nice to get a dosing recommendation.

She had it for the first time last night crushed up in her food and she didn't seem to mind it. It didn't make her throw up which is a small miracle. A lot of reviews talk about it having an instantaneous effect but that didn't quite happen. She seemed to yell at me a little more than usual this morning while I was getting her breakfast but I think that might have just been complaints about the dog stealing her heated bed. If she makes it to the top of the cat tree while taking this stuff I will consider it a miracle worker. The only time she's been to the top was when she got heavy pain meds after dental work. If she starts jumping on my dresser (which also only occurs with pain meds) I'll still be pretty impressed.

I didn't see anything 'wrong' per se with using T-relief (just included an article link below about it). Too bad your vet has to be that way, my vet is not a medication freak, and was willing to help me research things I might try with Feeby. While Glyco Flex isn't technically homeopathic, it is by far not a medication; and my vet was like: "Give it a try. If it helps, great; if it doesn't let me and we can work on some other angles."

Ok so she isn't climbing on top of everything (I'm kinda thankful for that) but there definitely is some noticeable improvement. She let me touch her hips! For years touching her hips has meant getting smacked. I'm allowed to pet straight down her back, and once I reach the back half I'm not permitted to deviate towards either side. She let me pet and brush her hips AND I was allowed to brush her butt fluff a little bit. The last time she let me brush her butt fluff was when she was like 10. She's also been awake more often the last couple days. Usually, she sleeps all day, wanders around a little bit at dusk and dawn, then sleeps most of the night. The past two days she was actually awake when I got home!

So 3 days in with only 1 pill per day and she's already showing what I consider vast improvement. I think it makes her a little thirsty though. She seems to be drinking more than usual. That may just be because I stopped putting the filter in her water fountain and now I fill it with already filtered water instead. Another possibility is that since she's actually awake during the day now, I get to see her drinking whereas she used to do it all at night. Regardless, the stuff seems to be working. Next time Vitacost has a sale I'll have to stock up for the year.

Update 2: She's doing more laps around the living room than usual! If I'm in there when she's awake she usually does a lap around the room and goes back to bed. In one day she usually only does 1 or 2 laps. Yesterday she did like 5 laps! She also tolerated a little butt brushing again today but I did get an angry swishy tail for it. Adding in just a little more water to her food than usual is enough for her to stop using her water fountain, so I'm not very concerned about the slightly increased thirst.

I will be switching to Super Snouts green-lipped mussel in a month or two. The cost isn't a huge difference for Cookie, but it's a lot cheaper for my dog. Cookie doesn't like strong smelling fishy things so I'm not sure she's going to like it. I think I'll have to start with a very small amount and build up to a full dose with her.

It's so exciting! I kinda want to give her 2 a day just to see if she improves even more, but I worry that she'll feel too good, climb to the top of the cat tree while I'm not home, get stuck, and break a hip trying to get down. She's NOT graceful. She dropped over 20 feet out of a tree when she was 10 or 11 and I just about had a heart attack. At that point, she had already slowed way down. Now at almost 16, I really don't think she can handle the 7 foot drop off the top of the cat tree. The highest she currently goes on the tree is 4 feet high and she can't jump down, she has to jump across to my bed and get down from there. Another pill might also give her the ability to climb well enough to get out of the yard if anyone accidentally lets her out. Right now she has no hope of getting over a fence.

Thoughts? Do I give another pill to see if she feels even better, or do I leave it at one a day so she doesn't get too adventurous and hurt herself or try to escape?

Hmmm....I think I'd stay with this for a few weeks and see how things go, based on this -
I read Amazon reviews and some people said their vet recommended only half a pill each day.
It just seems like such a wide range, between 1800petmeds recommended dosage and vet recommendations. :dunno:

That's a good point! I'll ask the vet tomorrow. I need to mentally prepare myself for the onslaught of disapproval since they don't like homeopathic stuff, Cosequin, or any food that isn't Science Diet or Royal Canin. I'm expecting a comment along the lines of "you're killing your cat." Maybe I'll get lucky and a new vet will have come in from a larger city that isn't so closed minded.

Well, I found out nothing helpful.

I intentionally scheduled the tests without a physical exam to try and avoid questions about diet. They always ask detailed questions about diet every time there's a physical exam done but they don't always do it if you're just there for tests or vaccines. I wanted to avoid the exam and diet talk because the vet that did the exam would be the one reading the test results and I didn't want the hatred of raw food that's so prevalent here to cloud the judgment of the vet or cause them to lie just to get her off raw and on to SD or RC. I honestly wouldn't put it past them to lie. Anyway, I asked the vet tech that brought my very angry kitty back to me since the vets were busy. I hadn't seen this tech before so I was hoping she would be nice. She's a fan of holistic stuff for people but doesn't know anything about it in pets and has never heard of T-relief or traumeel. All she said was do more research myself (I've already done a ton and haven't found a ton of information), take her to the only holistic vet (the drive just won't work. The vet is just a few miles away from campus but I live 35 miles from campus, so I would have to drive 35 miles (45 minutes) to campus, drive home to pick her up, drive back to where I just was, then drive home again. Everything closes early here and all tests have to be done before 3 so there's just no way), or print out as much information as I can and bring it to the vet.

Since Cookie peed herself on the way to the vet and didn't leave enough left in her bladder for a sample I have to bring her in again anyway. I'm going to make the appointment for that and for a physical exam so I can give the vet a small book of information on T-relief.

The vet decided whatever 1-800-PetMeds says is the way to go. He really didn't seem at all concerned about me giving it because the ingredients aren't harmful. He liked that I'm starting with 1 pill and recommends only increasing 1/2 pill at a time if she's getting worse or having a rough day. I gotta admit, the stuff works pretty well. Even my tendinitis, which is apparently never going away, is soothed a noticeable amount by this stuff.

She hasn't been doing as many laps since the vet trip on Monday. I can't blame her because having a needle shoved into her bladder (for the second time in a month!) must have left her sore. I'm still allowed to brush the butt fluff so I know it hasn't stopped working.
