I've read in books where characters' eyes change color according to their mood, what they are wearing, etc. but never see that in real life. Cats, however, have "jewel-toned" eyes that are very subtle in color and they do look different according to the ambient light, colors in the background, the camera used, etc. The one thing I believe about ALL cats' eyes is that they are gorgeous!

How you must have missed Maryam! There was such strong personality in the look of those eyes. I cannot get tired of trying to understand their messsages. Cats' eyes fascinate me.

Thank you. Yes, we do. She left us very unexpectedly. I still do not know why. We lost three beloveds in less than four months in 2016. A very sad year for us. And yes, Maryam was a very strong personality. Very sweet! and very regal.

So lovely...and a tiny bit cross-eyed? My mom's beloved meezer man, the first Samuda in our family, was cross-eyed and kink-tailed.
Yup. More noticable when he looks straight on to something and his left eye the most. When he really focuses on something he shakes his head ever so slightly.

Sombra stares at me when I come over because I have heard a scratching noise and find she is actually doing it to one of her scratching toys. She seems to say "so what, this is MINE isnt'it?" I love it when she does that, she has such expressive eyes!

I have read articles stating that very thing, golondrina golondrina . Seriously, cats tearing up their toys is an indicator of success, because toys mimic prey, and cats rip up their prey. So we can feel good when our cats do this! as long as we remove any toys which are so ripped up that they may be a safety hazard for them.:climbcat:
