Yesterday y vet prescribed CBD oil for SPeedy. She is almost 18 years old and has a number of health problems, but the CBD oil is for possible arthritis or joint pain She has some symptoms hat make us think she may be having pain in her hind legs. She will take two drops in the morning and two in the evening.

Speedy's biggest problem is her weight, she is so skinny and eating less all the time. The vet said it is possible the CBD oil might stimulate her appetite. Has anyone seen this result?

I use CBD oil for arthritis in my 5 year old (he damaged one of his legs a few years back and arthritis developed) and for anxiety in my 4 year old. I've had good experiences with it since I started in September. The biggest problem I've run into is my original product is getting harder to find so I might have to switch soon. If I do switch, I will have to recalculate the mg dosage for the new potency.

Not all CBD oils have the same ratio of CBD per mg. I am very careful to only get one that is lab tested for content and with a cat safe carrier oil. Also, I only give my cats 2/5 the recommended dosage. It is effective for them at the low dose.

I posted that on Tuesday, before Speedy's blood work came back. She didn't have arthritis, the weakness in her hind legs and the weight loss were symptoms of end stage kidney disease. And on Wednesday night I had to say goodbye. I am devastated and so, so regretful that I didn't pick up on those symptoms. I'm not sure I can ever be OK with that.

Now I have a $99 bottle of CBD, out of which I gave Speedy about 5 drops. I am going to give it back to my vet (it's illegal in my state for them to accept returns but I can "donate" it to them). Maybe there is another cat who needs it, maybe an owner who can't afford it, maybe there can be a tiny not-awful thing in Speedy's death. (I considered offering to share it here but I can't ship it, it must be kept refrigerated. Also it's possibly illegal to mail it.)

So very sorry to read this news. We'll close the thread now out of respect for your loss. We invite you to post a tribute to Speedy in our Crossing the Bridge forum.
