I have a land line and a cell but not a smart phone. I still think a landline has better reception than cells and my land is only $20.00 per month.

FYI: When you say Landline, it is NOT the phone connected to Cable.. or that comes with Cable/Comcast, etc...

Those are CABLE phones. When the cable goes out, the phones go out..

A traditional landline is one which is from the telephone company.. The old fashioned kind.. Like Verizon, AT&T, Ma Bell....

A true landline is one which has a cord for connection to the telephone company..

A variation on that is a cordless phone which is connected to the telephone company.. NOT the Cable company....

There is really a distinction between all the of them..

I think people just assume that a landline is anything other than a cell phone... not true..

I keep my old Verizon LANDLINE, corded, and cordless as an emergency when the electricity goes out. That way I Always have a phone for emergencies. It has come in handy.. and I have allowed so many people to use it, in the past....

i have a cordless phone system through my cable/ISP company.

no cell reception indoors in my area, for the most part -- so it's common to see folks out on their front porches, in the middle of the winter even, talking on cell phones......sometimes in their bathrobes, in the early morning hours. :headshake:

We don't have a landline anymore. Our old landline is now billed as a cell phone. I'd like to get rid of it completely and I think that, once Rick retires, we probably will. We never answer that phone.

I do not. What I DO have is a CaptionCall, which runs off of my wifi, and is for the hearing impaired. The ONLY people who have that number are my sons, my neighbor who is on my emergency alert system as a responder, and my doctors. I prefer they use that phone because I can be sure of not missing anything, since it shows me their words on the screen.

My cell phone is way more convenient than my landline because it will ring and can be answered on my IPad. I may not have a phone near me most of the time but the IPad is always near me.
