Try putting a box fan next to the door and turn it on high whenever you're going out, some Cats do not like the wind and noise and will avoid moving infront of it. If you don't want to leave it on you can always reach through the door and shut it off as you're closing it behind you.

I had Nyke for 3 years as an indoor cat and one day he became very interested in the outdoors. I used to try to walk him on the leash but it never went very well. He seemed happy, he just flopped down a lot. So now he tries to escape any chance he gets. What I've done is set up the bedroom for him and purchased a gate. Before I leave the house, I put him in the bedroom and put up the gate. He gets good airflow and has everything he needs. So that's always an option too.

I have been sticking my foot in the door and/or whatever is in my hand at her level so she can't run out, along with saying ah,ah,ah and shooing her away. My vigilance has stopped her escapes, she seems to be trying less frequently...she started to get past me this morning, but I snatched her up and put her back in and that seemed to deter. I am going to buy cat grass, and opening the windows for them has been a huge help!! The enclosure is on my to do list once I have some more funds. Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions!

I'm so glad to hear that she is adapting to her environment and that she is getting more enrichment. A happy cat is what we all want, yes? :yess:

In terms of enrichment, has anybody gotten feeder puzzles or what do you use when you are gone to keep your cat busy?

Our home belongs to cats! so there is cat furniture throughout, as well as frequently rotated toys, scratching pads and posts, feeding/watering stations, soft beds, perches, and lots of large windows to observe the world from.
