I'm sure lots of us watch Dr. Jeff on animal planet.
He always says cats should only eat wet food.
Our cat grew up on dry food.
Nutro roasted chicken. Left out for her during the day.
I started giving her Friskies party mix for a treat, and dinner.
Found out the Party mix is not really good for cats.
She really likes it.
Friend gave me some Purina One chicken.
She eats it, but rather have the party mix.
Because she's getting old, 13, and Dr. Jeff said so, I tried giving her wet food for dinner.
She won't have any of it.
Tried different one's, with no luck.
She will eat a little people food, sometimes. But only some foods.
She sometimes has hair balls. I give her medicine for it.
Have to squirt it in her mouth.
I thought wet food would help. But she won't eat it.
I tried some hair ball dry food. But she won't eat it.
She is spoiled, and it is our fault.
I wish food companies would make one serving cans, or pouches.
Maybe samples to see if they will even eat it.
Any suggestions or comments?????

It also depends on how you prepare the wet food. 2 of my 3 cats will not eat it mushed down like a loaf. Only if it's in pieces.

And mine only like mashed pate :D

there is no rule with cats, you need to try and see what works for your cat. Flavors, consistency, temperature, texture, all may matter. Even the bowl’ material can make a difference.
Some companies will send you free samples if you ask for it. Depending on your budget members will recommend the food they feed.
I don’t know who dr Jeff is but I already like this person :) Good luck!

My cat is not a fan of wet food either. He mostly eats dry food but I feed him a good quality brand that is low carb and grain free so I don't feel too horrible about it. I give him wet food too just so he gets extra moisture in but he's not crazy about it. Very picky and it took me alot of tries to figure out what he will eat. He does not like any pate types of canned food. Right now he likes the Weruva brand.. they have alot of choices. His favorite is the Cats in the kitchen chicken and duck. Something I have found helps him eat the wet food is mixing in some freeze dried tripe. It has a really strong smell and my cat loves it. Some are just very picky and don't like change. Just make sure you are not letting him starve because cats must eat daily or can get very sick. I know it sucks we want the best for them but sometimes they just won't cooperate!

I got a sample of Dr. Elseys canned cat food by emailing them. My cat Maggie mostly likes food with pieces of meat so I mix that in with her pate. Makes the expensive pate last longer

The bowl does make a difference. My cat Maggie wouldn't eat till I got her a whisker free bowl

She is 13, and spoiled, so she eats, and does, only what she wants to.
Just trying to have her eat better.
Owner doesn't, but maybe she can.
I've tried mashing it, adding water, adding people food.
Tried different brands. Meat, fish, poultry.
Nothing.
Even if I leave it out all night. Nothing.
Just a waste.

Forgot to post she lost one of her fangs.
She had a cracked fang from when she was young.
probably biting on a rock or the fence.
She hasen't done that for a long time.
Her other teeth look fine.
I clean her teeth of plaque from time to time.
But she's getting old, and i have no idea if the dry food is hurting her teeth.
Another reason I'd like her to eat both wet and dry now.
Our first cat lost most of his teeth because we feed him Tender Vittles or Moist meal. I can't remember which. We just didn't know better.

It is still debatable about dry and wet food.
I am surprised he won't eat pate. It's like eating fresh meat. Have you tried adding bonito flakes. They are at Petco. My cats love it.
Some can food have fish in it though the can says its chicken or something else. My cat Peaches will not eat fancy feast because some have fish which she hates. Have you tried mixing the canned with dry and slowly decreasing it? I keep forgetting to clean my cats teeth. Thanks for reminding me!

She will eat KFC chicken, but doesn't really care for others.
Doesn't care for fish. Cooked or raw.
Will sometimes eat steak. Sometimes hamburger.
Same with pork.
When she does eat, it's very little. Maybe two to three tiny pieces.
Tiny being about the size of a pencil eraser.
Our other cats liked corn. She doesn't.
I know she misses the Party Mix.
Is there something like Party Mix that is good for her????

My Mizu likes to scoop her food (a sign of whisker sensitivity) so I picked up a bowl that is wide and open. She still won't put her face into it and is sitting next to it, scooping out her food as always and looking a little unsure of what I've put her food in. Laughs...cats :gaah:

Try mixing a little wet food with the dry, a small quantity at first not to waste it if it doesnt work. If she eats it gradually add more wet and less dry.
