I posted a week ago,I brought in a 8 mth old pregnant semi feral. She's friendly felv negative,up to date on shots and I got her spayed 3 days ago,Dr said she was very pregnant and needed a hysterectomy.shes been healing great. I have her in a saferoom which I made into a cat room. Toys,scratchers,2 beds, blankets and jazz music 24/7. Now that she's feeling better she wants to get out, when I'm down there with her she's happy and wants to cuddle, but when I leave she cries at the door. There's no window in that room for her to look out. I don't think she wants to go outside I believe she just wants to be around other ppl. I have 4 cats of my own so I can't just let her out without a proper introduction and also she still needs to heal a few more days.my husband says to let her back out but I don't think that's the best thing for her. If i cant find her a home I was planning to keep her. I go downstairs every 2 hrs to lay and play with her. My daughter took her up to her room for a few hours yest. She did great, she just layed around and looked out the window. She didn't cry or climb on the window screens or anything. Should I let her back out after she fully heals?

If she is like the abandoned cat my neighbor had, she just wants love and attention. This cat was not looking necessarily to stay/go back outside, she just wanted a place to be and people to love/take care of her.

Are you sure she really wants back outside, or just wants to be with you/your daughter? I would let her be with your daughter and in your daughter's room.

Then, when you are ready, you can begin the introductions to the other cats. If you don't know what to do, there are some really good articles on this site. We can either provide them to you or you can do your own search - just let us know!!!

Please don't let her back outside. I have brought 5 feral cats into my house. Each one of them have cried, yowled and tried to escape the room. This went on for about a week. I found using Feliway diffusers and Composure calming treats to really help the situation. I also had to place a gate or two inside the door to be sure the cat didn't escape the room. Most likely she doesn't understand where she is and her natural instinct is to escape.

Do you have a cat tree or other place for her where she can safely hide? Even a cardboard box with a cozy blanket?

Visit her as often as possible. Remember her hormones are shifting in a BIG way. Also she was pregnant so that is a loss and another shift in hormones. She needs time and love. It may take her a few weeks for the hormones to shut down. Please give her time and have patience. Letting her back outside would be extremely cruel. She is not a feral cat. She will adjust in time.

If at all possible, I would keep her inside unless you can ensure her safety. It sounds like she is just lonely for companions

shes doing better today, I wont give up on her, trust me I know she will have a better life indoors.shes still healing from surgury.she mostly sleeps, eats and uses the litter box.she is trusting me more everyday. she hasnt had any intrest in toys which is a first for me as ive rescued other strays. I was thinking maybe she doesnt know how to play with toys. she also gets upset when she hears my other cats sctratching at the door.she goes into attack mode and bites. she has not tried to bite me but she bit my son who was standing at the door.I think she just needs time to adjust being indoors.ive tried catnip which she has no intrest in.she loves her neck rubbed and shows me her belly with no problem so ive keep an eye on her stitches.
