Any breeders that do NOT vaccinate kittens before sending them to their forever homes?
Do TICA and CFA have any vaccine requirements for kittens in their registered catteries?

I'm not sure why you are asking the question? Are you planning to sell unvaccinated kittens? Or are you thinking of buying a cat from a breeder that said they don't vaccinate kittens?

Kittens should receive a series of kitten shots before they go to their new homes. It's best for the breeder to complete the entire series before sending the kitten to its new home; that's one reason to keep kittens until at least 16 weeks before placing them in their new homes. Here are recommendations from UC Davis.

Vaccination Guidelines for Dogs and Cats | School of Veterinary Medicine

The core feline vaccines are those for feline herpesvirus 1 (FHV1), feline calicivirus (FCV), feline panleukopenia virus (FPV), feline leukemia virus (FeLV - kittens) and rabies.

Feline Herpesvirus 1, Feline Calicivirus and Feline Panleukopenia Virus Vaccines
For initial kitten vaccination (< 16 weeks), one dose of parenteral vaccine containing modified live virus (MLV) FHV1, FCV, and FPV is recommended every 3-4 weeks from 6-8 weeks of age, with the final booster being given no sooner than 16 weeks of age. [...]

Feline Rabies Virus Vaccines
Cats are important in the epidemiology of rabies in the United States. In general we recommend that kittens receive a single dose of killed or recombinant rabies vaccine at 12-16 weeks of age.

I am looking for a holistic breeder who does not vaccinate their cats or kittens.

It is completely irresponsible not to give kittens their vaccinations. Protection against rabies, distemper, etc. is life-saving.

I'm not sure what you think happens to a kitten when he/she has a vaccine, but adverse reactions are rare and usually mild even when they do occur. And a (rare!) bad reaction is better than your kitten dying of a preventable disease.

Oh god, please don’t let that antivax bs spread into the cat world. Humans are bad enough and getting worse.

Please let us know your immense knowledge (you have a doctorate in some kind of medicine, right? Not just some FB post that told you a myth) of why you do not want to vaccinate kittens?

I don't think it's necessary to vaccinate adult cats very often (every 3-5 years ought to provide sufficient immunity, possibly even longer). But you really have to get their kitten vaccines. Panleukopenia is particularly contagious, particularly fatal, and a horrible death.

I'm sure you COULD find a breeder that doesn't vaccinate at all. You can find just about anything in this country. But I wouldn't know how to go about finding them.

I imagine they could only have a few cats at a time, because, yikes, one step in a germy spot in the park and their entire cattery would be wiped out, or at least incur huge vet bills. If you read really old cat breeding books, that used to happen to breeders all the time.

S Starry1 You stated in this thread that your cattery was registered and that you would be having all the kittens you sold fixed.

Registration

Are you looking for an unvaccinated cat to breed from? Or are you asking about kittens you are planning to sell to other people?

It would be very irresponsible to sell unvaccinated kittens to people. Imagine the heartbreak if the kitten died. Or if other pets in the family got sick.

I don't think you will find a breeder who doesn't vaccinate on this forum. It isn't in the best interest of the kittens, other cats or future homes to not vaccinate.

I found this interesting graphic that seems applicable to vaccination....

You don't care about what breed the kittens are, just that they aren't vaccinated? And you want to purchase multiple kittens from that breeder? If this were your first post here, I would wonder if you wanted to perform some kind of science experiment on unvaccinated kittens!

I expect you can find a breeder somewhere who doesn't vaccinate, but I strongly suggest you reconsider. The vaccine recommendations for cats are quite reasonable. Panleukopenia is a very scary disease in cats!

In order to ship or get a health certificate to sell, wouldn't a breeder have to vaccinate? I can't imagine any ethical or reputable breeder would sell their kittens without any shots at all tbh.

Haha! Ok. Well this had a table of 8 adults laughing. Thank you for adding an insanely funny element to our luncheon! Laughter is good medicine. Keeps the immune system strong.

So, like just random kittens who aren't vaccinated? It doesn't matter which breed? Farmers and trailer courts have tons of them, collect at your leisure. The ones that survive ought to be pretty tough.

Thanks for all of the unsolicited comments even if they didn't actually answer my questions.

On a side note, you all seem like wonderfully delightful, joyous, kind people! Its been such a pleasure reading your comments. The kittens and cats raised in your happy homes should make great pets for nice families looking to adopt. I know those sweet, kitties will absorb every ounce of love radiating off of you. Keep doing what you do and stay happy!

Yes, I do see a lot of posts here made by very caring, kind and loving people who patiently answer questions on this site all day long. I'm sorry if you feel attacked in some way, but the majority of comments here are just people sincerely trying to be helpful. Note that most people here are not breeders.

The thing is there are already hundreds of cats and kittens waiting for their own happy homes in shelters and they've been vaccinated, so their new families don't have to worry about their pets dying from some easily avoidable disease.

As others have said, kittens are already being born into homes that can't afford or don't care enough to have their cats spayed, neutered and vaccinated. Of course a lot of the kittens die, but there is never a shortage of un-vaccinated kittens around.

I can't understand why you would deliberately put a cat at risk of a disease in this way. If you want to breed and sell kittens you really should take every precaution possible to ensure they are healthy.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you're going to get a lot of support on this forum. Alternative medicine, including homeopathic and holistic medicines, can be quite dangerous.

Alternative Treatments For Cats: How To Minimize The Risk

In the UK vets have petitioned for a ban on homeopathic remedies for animals as;

" At best, it leads to unnecessary suffering and a reduced likelihood of a full recovery. At worst......there is no option left but euthanasia."

Why we are calling for a ban on vets offering homeopathic remedies | Danny Chambers

Similar remedies for people have been described as "useless and unethical" by the UK government and all NHS funding and official licensing of homeopathy has been withdrawn.

House of Commons - Evidence Check 2: Homeopathy - Science and Technology Committee

I can't understand why you think it's better not to vaccinate.
