Talked to my neighbor this morning. She wants to move trapping the cats to Saturday morning. In one last good faith effort on my part, I called cat rescue lady and no answer. So, I texted her with my neighbor's phone number, and told her I thought it was time the two of them coordinated plans directly. Also, texted my neighbor and gave her cat rescue lady's number. Me being in the middle is only helping to drag things out. Hope if they talk to one another a firm plan can be made quicker.

Hooray! They actually talked to one another without me being the mediator!! So, early Saturday morning it is.

I have no details - yeah, that is what I get for trying to extract myself from being in the middle - but, at least there appears to be a plan in place.

I am sure one of these two will somehow find a way to bring me back into the loop...If not, I am OK with that too.

I am on pins and needles!! Neighbor was MIA all day yesterday so I didn't get a chance to talk to her at all, just to see if there was anything I could do to help her prepare for the supposed hand-over this AM to the cat rescue lady. And, as of right now, no one has contacted me to say the hand-over took place. I am very suspicious about it actually having occurred.

Now, I will be gone most of the rest of the day visiting with out of town friends, and probably won't see her until possibly tomorrow, if then. I don't dare contact her to ask if there was success. Will not be able to control myself if it didn't. So, now I will stay on pins and needles, hoping it happened but not knowing for sure.

Didn't happen - just saw the young cat. Pretty mad/upset right about now. Will wait to contact cat rescue lady or my neighbor after I calm down...

And, then it happened!!!! Cats have been trapped. :cheerleader::bouquet::itslove::bliss:
They are now safe and sound in a quiet home, with food/water/litter boxes. They are in the same room, but in different crates as the young cat may be delivering any time now.

It was stressful, and a lot of work is ahead, but they are no longer roaming free to incur whatever dangers they were lucky to have already not encountered.

Ha! That will do!! You deserve it. Now you can relax and not worry about those sweet kitties.
Thanks. But, I will worry about these sweet kitties - not for fear of their death or some terrible attack/accident - but, because I have grown to love them and want them to have good, caring homes. Cat rescue lady (foster) is just down the street, so I will try not to be 'in her face' but will want to keep tabs on Mia and Beba.

I guess this is normal, but still can't get Mia and Beba off my mind. I guess tomorrow it will maybe feel a little bit better? Today was a whirlwind. I thought there would be a bit more relief.:(

Hi. Neighbor actually trapped them Saturday morning - enticed them with treats into the crate that they have used from time to time. But, the door didn't latch correctly and Beba (baby cat) got out :runningcat:. I guess that turned out to be a good thing, because I was gone all day and wouldn't have been able to help with anything.

Neighbor was going to try again Sunday morning, but they were still a little leery from the previous day. So, she waited until early afternoon. She lured Beba into the crate with treats, and latched the door. While the hope was to trap them both in the same crate, she decided not to push her luck and used a carrier to lure Mia inside with treats. But, for the first time ever Mia hissed at her! :angrycat: I am sure it was because Beba was meowing her brains out in the crate. (Mia has always been very protective of Beba.) However, the treats were too tempting, Mia went part way into the carrier to get the treats and neighbor managed to push her the rest of the way in. Then, she called cat recue lady.

Right after that is when cat lady came knocking on my door and asked me if I would help her set up their "new home". So, we transported them both to her home. Cat lady owns two homes side by side, and she wanted to use her second house (currently unoccupied) to house the cats in order to avoid any possible disease exposure to her cats.

So, now they are in two separate crates, one stacked on top of the other, in a bathroom with food/water/litter boxes inside. They can see each other, if they look - but, I guess smelling each other is just as important. :dunno: Cat lady didn't want them in the same crate in case Mia gives birth soon - no one knows how Mia or Beba might interact with each other with babies involved.

Mia had pretty much settled down in her crate. Beba was still a bit 'pissed off' (she has an attitude, anyway - hence the reason I had started calling baby brat cat :devilcat2:), but no more hissing or meow/howling. Poor thing was sitting half-way in and half-way out of her litter box! I am guessing she did this because it was the farthest point away from us that she could get!

So, I said my goodbyes :bawling: and left, excited about their safety but depressed about their being caged. The quietness of the house is probably a good thing, but I was sad thinking they might get lonely. Cat lady will be over there at least a couple of times a day - probably more since she has this week off from work.
So, now it is a waiting game - for Mia to have her babies while cat lady works with Beba to socialize her more. I will go over there today with some more cat food; maybe I will get to see them again. But, I don't want cat lady to think I am expecting an every day visit. I am not even sure if that would be a good idea anyway. :frown:

Aww. It's good for them but I know you miss them. Who wouldn't? But they're on their way to better lives. It sounds like your neighbor actually got really lucky. A lot of other cats wouldn't have gone into those crates the very next day.

Oddly enough, even though Beba had never shown any interest in anything but dry cat food, my neighbor tried once again with a different kind of treat. That one worked, and is likely the only reason she went into the crate. I guess it was time, and it was meant to be - finally!!

Mia, on the other hand, LOVED most anything my neighbor would feed her!

Bought some more cat food for the kitties, and some canned that Mia likes. Took it to the cat lady (along with some $$ for litter and what-not), and got to see the kitties!!
Mia just wanted some pettings :petcat:, which I gladly obliged her! Beba just intently watched as I talked to her - no hissing, just quiet, ears down (not back), eyes watching my every move.

I want to say they looked resigned, but I am choosing to go with 'settled'.

sounds like she'll be able to civilize Beba enough to be adopted. So glad you got Mia caught before she had the kittens somewhere outside.
