I can't wait to go to bed. A couple stressful weeks followed by a short stomach bug that took out nearly half my class (and me yesterday afternoon/evening) and all I want to do is join the realm of dreamland.

But, alas, I must wait until the cats' dinnertime and feed them first. I could make the fiancé do it, but it's such a habit as this point and only an hour away, I may as well just wait.

Rolling my own is probably what has saved my lungs. NOT saying that it is good for me, just saying it's better than a name brand.
I roll my own with a machine, too. LOL, I do keep my tobacco in the freezer, though, because a bag lasts a few months! Freezing it keeps it fresh.

I am trying to escape what is on my mind. My husband is sick and recently lost his job contract. So we are running on empty and unsure of what is going on with him. It's the absolute worst feeling in the world. Everything runs the risk of drowning. Our cats, our home, everything we had planned for our future is all at stake and neither of us is prepared.

Sorry about that stomach bug Lari Lari . Hope you feel better today.

:hugs:
Glad you're better. Now rest up this weekend.
:yeah::yeah:

Well, I've done a dumb. I put a big pot of water on to make 3 gallons' worth of tea base, sat down in my chair, and fell asleep. Yep, boiled that puppy dry. I THINK that I can salvage the pot, although it will never be pretty again. Luckily, the glass top didn't break! Thank GOODNESS, I bought ceramic pans, NOT teflon!

Oh joy. Between last week and this one I cracked a rib. It's the same one I cracked when I had pneumonia at 19. I guess this means I better start getting the pneumonia shot. Next time, it may shatter. lol
On the up side, the cough is almost gone...almost.

Everything is very flooded here. The highway going past my house is closed because of flooding. I live 4 miles away from the river, which is covering the highway. I just stepped outside to get something from the car, it's a very still night, and no traffic because the road is closed. I can hear the river rushing! It's really cool. I've never been able to hear it from my house before. I've just been sitting outside listening to it.

Also, 3 or 4 cars have gone by since I've been outside, and 5 minutes later, after they reach the river, they come back. . .did they not believe the road closed signs? LOL, at least I'm getting some entertainment tonight.

I haven't been here in a while. I've been trying to figure out my life and also working on some personal things. But I've missed being on the forum. I started making music in January! Not sure if I'm allowed to post it here but it would mean a lot if you'd give it a listen.

I write and compose/produce all my stuff.
It sounds pretty good to me. The one bit of advice I'd offer is that you need to mic yourself separately from the piano and increase the volume on that mic just a bit; the piano tends to overpower your voice.

My brother and his wife both caught pneumonia late last year. It took them months to get over it, and for a while she thought she had broken a rib, as well. Fortunately, in her case it turned out to just be a strained muscle.

When I mentioned that I had gotten the new Prevnar pneumonia vaccine last autumn my brother said that he'd tried to get vaccinated but they wouldn't allow him because he wasn't 65 yet! Where the heck is the sense in that? Jim Henson was 53 when he died of Toxic Shock Syndrome caused by walking pneumonia!

kashmir64 kashmir64 , I'm glad you're feeling better. Take care of yourself and try to avoid anything that hurts; remember that if it makes that rib hurt it's putting stress on the rib which could eventually cause a punctured lung, and you don't need that.

I am so sorry this is happening. I will pray for both of you.

Here's an update on BlueCare Express, the delivery company that stole the book light I'd ordered from eBay.

I went to eBay resolutions and filed a claim against the vendor since my purchase hadn't been delivered, and eBay denied my claim, because the vendor had a valid tracking number that showed it had been delivered.

So then I went to PayPal and filed a claim there, and PayPal denied it for the same reason, despite the fact that in the vendor's final statement they essentially said that it doesn't matter that I'd never received my order, they had a valid tracking number so they bear no responsibility. Also despite the fact that I posted this link: Bluecare is rated "Poor" with 3.0 / 10 on Trustpilot which has a lot of reports that BlueCare Express regularly reports that it's delivered an eBay purchase "into the hands of a resident" when, in fact, they never showed up at all!

Needless to say, I've been feeling quite disillusioned with both eBay and PayPal after this experience. I've also been extremely angry, primarily at BlueCare Express; I want to take this company down! So yesterday, since the crime I, personally, know about occurred in Jefferson County, Colorado, where I live, I called the JeffCo Sheriff's office and filed a theft report. They provided me with a case number, and asked me to inform both PayPal and eBay of their investigation, and the case number, and ask them to cooperate with the investigation. I did that.

When I called PayPal Customer Service to inform them, the guy said I needed to talk to a "Dispute Resolution Officer," and transferred my call. (Obviously, there was a lot of anger in my voice.) The DRO took the case number, and also gave me a refund of my money, "because I've been such a good PayPal member for so long." (Also because I was angry with PayPal and they don't like that, but he didn't say that, of course.) Note that this is PayPal refunding my money, not the vendor who contracted with a fraudulent delivery company and is about to get a well-deserved negative review. Also note that, although I've informed the Sheriff who is handling my case that my money has been refunded, the theft still happened and the criminal case remains open.

When I called eBay Customer Service, one of the things I informed them of is that, according to the website I just posted here, numerous people have had this happened to them, have filed claims with eBay about it, and have had their claims denied. Therefore, eBay has been informed that BlueCare Express does this, and has done nothing about it. The guy I spoke with said that they'd look into it and consider whether vendors who use BlueCare Express should be banned from eBay. Now whether it will actually happen is another question entirely - I don't believe that the person I spoke with has any actual power - but I've done my duty and we can always hope. :crossfingers: In the meantime, I'm repeating my warning here:
On eBay, do business with no vendor who will not guarantee that they do not ship with BlueCare Express! Get it in writing!

I think eBay wants to be like Amazon. So many "buy it now" items. I love eBay for, say, used books or unique items, etc. but I don't buy new items there. That's what Amazon is for.

I do think it's reasonably safe if you keep an eye on the seller's rating, although it's not as clear and easy as it used to be. I will definitely keep an eye out for sellers who don't use the regular shipping companies, that's for sure.

Katie M Katie M , you'll do just fine in finals; you always do. I'm glad you've finally found a class that properly challenges you.

The thing about Amazon is that I'm not very happy with the way they treat their workers, so I generally prefer to use eBay. This is the first time I've ever had an insoluble problem with an eBay vendor; in the past, when I've received a product that didn't work for me for some reason (not the vendor's fault) the vendor has been very happy to refund my money, and even to pay for me to ship the product back to them. The one time something I ordered was defective the vendor didn't even ask me to send the defective one back; he just sent me another, gratis.

There are two things you need to check (in addition to finding out what shipping company they use):
  • The vendor's rating.
  • How long the vendor's been on eBay.
My mistake this time is that I just checked the first. When a vendor hasn't been there long, hasn't done that many transactions, a high rating is fairly meaningless. Quantity doesn't beat quality, but quality plus quantity is a good deal more convincing.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
Ive been on ebay since 1997. I havent had any issues with sellers and myself used to sell on Ebay as well for almost 10 years. I use only a few vendors on there, thriftbooks and worldofbooks or something. I tend to buy used books so usually the people I buy from it's their personal items. I do check feedback on new vendors and prefer to do business with ones who have been on there a long time. I never heard of this blue delivery service but def will check to make sure they use usp. usps. or fedex. Most of the books come through usps due to bound printed matter is cheap to send. Sorry you had to go through all this hassle Margret Margret !! I tend to shop both Amaz and E. But I found books cheaper via ebay than Amazon. Plus the quality is much better. Most vendors on Ama say a book is in good shape when it really should be burned. I can't believe the quality of some of the books I have received!!! And I let them know but of course they just say it's good in their eyes so thats why I tend to stick to thriftbooks on ebay..but you have to becareful to make sure condition is rated either good or very good otherwise acceptable will be unacceptable=wet wrinkled pages, torn missing pages just a horrible copy. I am a book condition snob when it comes to buying books-I prefer spines nice and square=writing doesnt' bother me=just don't bend the pages or bend the books...

I have been thinking about adopting a coworker's older kitty because they want to move to the city but the prices of new construction are completely insane=I told them Honeybee loves other cats and she needs a playmate-they didn't want to keep him if move to the city because he's an indoor/outdoor kitty and felt rehoming to another home where he can go outside would be best for him. I have mixed feelings but I understand them wanting to do this. They also have a dog which the cat for the first year hated..now the cat plays with the dog-jumps on the dog bites it and the dog loves it..he sent me videos of them hammering around the kitchen-the cat wasn't mad-his tail was straight up and ears straight up like happy. No airplane ears or dilation of pupils. So I told him the cat would be sad to loose his friend..I said you should keep them together but obviously I understand you would want him in a safe place to still enjoy the sunshine...

kashmir64 kashmir64 I am sorry to hear you are under the weather...Hope it goes away fast. My mom was a heavy smoker-she started at 11. When she was 62ish she cut down to 4 or 5 cigs a day. She couldn't quit and her doc agreed it would cause too much stress. So she managed to still enjoy a bit of her cigs but she did get sick-didn't stop her from smoking-wish she had rolled her own back then but she would only smoke virginia slims ultra light menthols, we tried to get her on non menthol cigs but she hated them...wish we had ecigs back then. So I would just keep on doing what you are doing.

For those who use ecig what's the brand/flavor you like? I have a close friend from work who wants to quit but she is having a hard time..she wanted to try ecig but didn't know which brand/juice to try...
