THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I tried the bathroom but he panicks now that he is blind. I cannot believe this is all at once. :( It kills me to see his quality of life go down. But I have to also make sure he does not block/UTI. Scary stuff here!! I will try the drops if I can, might not work as I live alone and have no help. Plus the stress for him... his NOISE is coming from his NOSE only, no chest or throat.

While this isn't going to help, I just want to say that I am completely impressed by how hard you are trying to help this kitty and how bad a hand you have both been dealt. I did have a cat go suddenly blind once but he was a rescue, long time on the streets, and it was from cryptococcus which I doubt your cat has. But yes, the whole just lost his vision, scared, not sure what just happened in heartwrenching.

Thank you for your kind words! You have no idea how much tht means to me and Skye. I will not give up on him and we will battle this and hopefully win! It is great to finally find a group of folks who understand the frustation both emotionally, financial and lack of sleep all this issues bring! Not to mention the days of work loss having to hide the truth as fear of losing one's job since it is not a 'child' for them that is. Thank you once again and I hope i can at least find the 'reason'. I am waiting for the vet who did the dental to call me today, Wednesday as she was off from work and see her opinion. I will never know if it is something she did but the Respiratory issue prior to and post dental leads me to believe it is the Feline Herpes gone to his nose cavity and eyes.

You can uy a vaporizer at he graocery. This is to put meds in and it makes steam. Do not put meds in it, but use it to increase humidy. It should have an automatic off. Put it where he can't stumble into it.

Most cats adjust quickly and well to being blind. They don't think about it, or grieve about it, they just deal with it.

what you can do to help-

1- don't move the furniture.
2- don't leave bags like from the grocery out in unexpected places, or books on the floor.
3- put some sort of rough tape - plastic edging (get at hardward store and nail it to the floor) in front of stairs both ways, one way so he won't fall down them and the other so he won't bump his head when he reaches them.
4- Don't feel sorry for him. He doesn't feel sorry for himself, but he can sense that something is grieving you. Remember, he's out to reconquer the world, one paw at a time and he knows he can do it. Look how well he's doing finding his way around with all the congestion which is messing with his ability to smell stuff. Soon as that clears up there'll be no stopping him.
5- Commander Skye knows only victory, there is no defeat. He needs you to remember that.

So will I as I send prays and energy toward you both.

Glad that you will see the opto vet and hopefully you will get some answers. I am thinking that it is the herpes which caused the blindness and not the other procedures, but you will find out no doubt. K Kflowers gave some good pointers. Animals have an amazing way of adjusting to things that would make most of us give up, especially if they know that their family is there for them. Blind animals can absolutely function normally if you just mind a few things. Try to act as normal as possible around him, despite all the stress over every bit of this that you are feeling as he will pick up a calm energy and even possibly decide that this is the next step of his life and he will see where it takes him.

Thank you so much for the kind words an positive energy! I hold him with my eyes closed and send him positive thoughts that this awful Herpes Virus congestion will finally go in remission and that flem/mucuos will come out of his body/nasal area for good!! Then he will be able to focus on his new life being blind whether it is temporary or permanant. I wish we could turn back time and start over but I guess we cannot. Regrets always seem to be there. THANKS to you ALL!!

It is your destiny to have each other. His to find someone who can help him and isn't afraid to, and yours to go on this new and unique journey with him. Together you will discover wonders beyond your imagination and a new way of being in the world.

I took Skye to the Eye vet and also his regular vet after. After testing at the eye vet it looks like Skye did not lose his vision to the dental procedure or not even his battle with Feline Herpes but 'possibly' a mass/lesion behind his right eye. His retina, lens, cornea are all good shape and his ocular BP went back down, however, the only way to confirm this would be to do a very expensive MRI which might not yield answers and if it did, the result would be surgery in a very sensitive area that usually has bad results. His CBC and all else are fine. So with that said, he was given antibiotics to battle secondary infections and I purchased several humidifiers and placed them all over the house. For now, Skye and I will live Every Day, moment by moment and hope the mass (if any) stays as is for years to come. I will look out for any symptoms that would call for quality of life diminishing. We shall see. Thank you all for your concerns.
