That H3 virus going around is nasty. I'm just getting over it. I've been out of work for a four weeks and am going back tomorrow finally. Good news about your lungs! That's wonderful you are down to 4 a day. I kept telling myself that I'm so glad I quit smoking because I can't stand having any respiratory problems.

Tell me about it. My mom and son have/had it. Had my son take my mom to the hospital on Monday to have her heart checked. Didn't know what this virus was doing to it. She got a clean bill on her heart. TG.
If I would just quit coughing up a lung, I would feel great.

It's bad. The only relief I found was from tea and honey and more sleep than normal. No fun though for sure.

Aedan has a fever now. Stuffy, runny nose, cough, fussy as all get out. I finally got him to sleep. I gave him Zarbees cough and mucous - it's an all natural remedy safe for babies - and it seemed to help a bit. Vicks on his chest, vaporizer running, saline nose drops. I may shoot my sister.

Is that what Whoopi Goldberg had? She said she almost died.

The doctor just called. The good news is that none of the ribs are actually cracked. It just feels that way. She says I pulled a bunch of muscles in the rib cage area. The main one is (she gave it a long name) one of my diaphram muscles. I call it my boob muscle, but she said it's a muscle under the breast, next to the rib cage, above the lung. But if I keep coughing, it will crack.

The bad news is that's it's definitely pneumonia. Fortunately, she gave me the med for that yesterday, just in case.
So this year so far....no broken bones. I'm on a roll.

On the up side, she said my lungs look fantastic for someone who's smoked 40 years. And I'm down to 4 a day, so before long maybe I'll quit. (we'll see how that goes)
GOOD JOB! I'm a wee bit ahead of you, being down to 2 a day. I don't see any way I'll get better than that unless I also stop drinking coffee, but my doctor is...cautiously relieved...that it's down to that level

JUST found in my inbox, 1 minute and 52 seconds of joy

I took up smoking in the service, and was up to 3 packs a day when I quit cold turkey in 1972. The reason? They raised the price from 50 cents per pack to 55 cents, and I am stubborn enough that I refused to pay the higher price. I only wish that I had put aside that money- just imagine how much would have piled up.

I was really surprised. She showed me the 3D x-ray and you could see right through my lungs to the spine and back ribs.
I had wondered if I quit, is the damage already done. Apparently not.
My biggest problem is, I'm still on the fence. I know I need to quit, but I don't really want to. Don't ask why, there is no logic to addiction.

I just thought I'd share. Chewy has a deal on American Journey Grain Free cat food right now. It's buy one get one free so the price of the 2 bags is comparable to what we've been paying for Purina One. I would go grain free permanently, but I can't really afford to pay twice as much for cat food, but I can afford this right now. And, you get free shipping on orders over $49 and they counted the original total BEFORE the coupon so I'm getting the free shipping.

The BOGO deal is only a once-per-customer thing, sadly. They do it to get people to try their brands. You can use it once for American Journey and once for Tiny Tiger. But it really is a great deal! I'm sure the kitties will enjoy it :D.

I'll have to look at Tiny Tiger. I know grain free is best, but it's usually out of my price range. The cat food we normally feed them at least has meat as the first ingredient, so it's better than a lot of the others.

Nope. I'm 65. I started smoking at about 18. When I had my next-to-last pulmonary function study, I was at 38% lung function. Got it down to 2 cigs a day, and in the past year, I went from that 38% up to 79%. I think if I could let go of those last two cigarettes, I could get up near 90% function. Not too late until something ugly takes root in there and can't be got out.

I do puff on an e-cig with very low nicotine a couple of times a day, but...you don't get the tar with that, and the tar is the biggie here. And, amazingly, white cigarette paper, which releases minute amount of sodium cyanide when it burns! I think that's why pipe smokers have somewhat fewer issues.

I roll my own with pipe tobacco and the tubes I use are just paper and filter.
Just for fun one day I got a store bought cigarette and one of mine wet. When they dried, the store bought was a nasty smelling brown thing and mine was just a dry smoke. You could see where it got wet, but barely. Rolling my own is probably what has saved my lungs. NOT saying that it is good for me, just saying it's better than a name brand.

I am trying to escape what is on my mind. My husband is sick and recently lost his job contract. So we are running on empty and unsure of what is going on with him. It's the absolute worst feeling in the world. Everything runs the risk of drowning. Our cats, our home, everything we had planned for our future is all at stake and neither of us is prepared.

Oh, yeah, I'll definitely check it out!!! Aedan needs new clothes soon. He's snug in size 18 months but I can't decide if I should buy winter or spring clothes for 24 months; the weather has no clue what it's doing.

I haven't been here in a while. I've been trying to figure out my life and also working on some personal things. But I've missed being on the forum. I started making music in January! Not sure if I'm allowed to post it here but it would mean a lot if you'd give it a listen.

I write and compose/produce all my stuff.
