I found I have chronic kidney disease. I I am afraid it is bad and if anything happens what would happen to my cat? My family Don't want to take care of her.

It just worries me, I am at a loss and scared.

There's new-ish TCS article on this subject:

What Will Happen To My Cat If I Die?

I recall seeing an ad in a cat magazine about a sanctuary that will take in pets if the owner dies and there are no relatives, friends, etc who are able to take the pets. Does anyone know what this place is?

:vibes::grouphug:

Search for feline retirement home. (Read all the info and talk to them, don't make any assumptions).

There must be SOMEONE you can find that would agree take your cat. Get on facebook, ask yoru local shelter, etc. Chronic kidney disease CAN be managed, it's not an automatic death sentence, MANY people live normal or near normal life spans. You can also go on hiome dialysis. And can be on the list for a kidney transplant. thank you for your post, it should be a reminder that we all need to make plans!

It touches my heart that you worry more for your cat than of yourself. I remember I asked my son once or twice that if ever something happens to me he'd promise he would take care of all my cats, especially Bourbon - my grumpy cat.

True, you have to think of yourself now. It would be much better for you and ultimately your cat that you manage your well being so you can be with your cat for many, many more years. Stay as physically strong and healthy as possible. However, it is also good that you plan ahead, and save for the future just in case.

My prayers.

My cat is my baby and family. I don't have kids of my own so that's probably why I care for my cat and worry. I am sure my mom feels that way about me and my sister and she had so many health scares

There are a number of stages and treatments for chronic kidney disease and with treatment you can live long and well. If your doctor didn’t explain this and give you a treatment plan get ahold of him or her and request more information.

He says I am stable but its stage 3 I just didn't understood Dr well. I did join a FB group and they all seem to manage it. But it is scary cause I don't know about dialysis or anything. Last time I did have a bad blood pressure I think it was the stress that I had to put one cat down in summer

I have mild kidney disease which is common in those of us with diabetes. If this was a general practitioner he should refer you to a kidney specialist and if your blood pressure is high add or increase medication to control it.

Kidney disease or not, it's a good idea to have a plan and provisions for any living creature under your care. Even if you're a 20 year old young person with the world by the tail and all the good health in the world, it's never a bad plan because we just never know what could happen :wave3: I'm sorry you're dealing with this, there's so much to learn and keeping yourself healthy is top priority.
Where did you get your cats? If you adopted them from a rescue center and still have their paperwork, look it over because many places prefer to take a cat or dog back that they adopted out if the current owner can't care for them. Some places have people who like to foster adults instead of babies (much less work there.)
