Alternative To Steroids?

i have an itchy kitty with allergies. Claritin doesnt work and I really am not comfortable giving him steroids.
Any thoughts?

What is it about steroids that makes you uncomfortable??
Gravol and Benadryl can be used as antihistamines as well- just talk to a vet about a correct dose

I am worried about potential side effects that my cat can’t communicate to me.
I am going in my own experience of drugs that have given me uncomfortAble side effects and of course, I couldntell my dr. Im afraid he may have headaches, dizziness or depression some of the side effects that I wouldnt know that he is experiencing.
It also seems pretty serious that hou need to take blood levels.
Lastly, I dont want him to be dependent on a drug.
