It's 27 and snowing, but the wind is the real story. A gust was recorded at 59 mph earlier today, though right now the average is more like 40-45 mph.

We've had loads of rain and cold. Unusual for So Cal. Heard on he TV the other day that we've already had more than 150% more than the average for this season with more to come. It's bad because it causes landslides particularly in the parts of the state where we've had the devastating fires. But it's also good because it fills up the aquifers and reservoirs which had been shrinking to dangerously low levels due to years-long droughts. Right now temps don't go above 55 and drop in to the 40s at night with even some nights into the 30s. The heat pump in the living/dining area is not making it warm enough unless I run it all the time and I can't afford that. So I hole up in my bedroom which has its own heat pump and I can leave that at 68 and stay comfortable. 3 kitties on the bed help keep it warm too. Partly cloudy today but more rain forecast for the next week and it's not getting any warmer. No working in the garden and there is lots of red cabbage and also Chinese cabbage ready for picking, besides some absolutely luscious leaf lettuce, however the cold temps are keeping them from bolting.

It’s pouring down rain with hail right now! 46ºF here. We’ve had over 3” of rain this week. Trees have been going down because of the high winds on Weds. and Thurs. and ground saturation from previous rains. There are utility outages all over the peninsula.

A tree went down across the street on our cul-de-sac and blocked us in for the afternoon a couple of days ago. Fortunately they got it removed pretty quickly.

Power was out for two days. It’s back on now but we’re on Day 4 of cable TV and internet outage. Fortunately I can get online via a Verizon hotspot, at least intermittently. :hellocomputer:

Rainy and cold. We are still trying to cut a tree damaged by the hurricane last September. But we have had too much rain. Same for getting our roof replaced. All the contractors and workmen are still totally backed up with so much devastation.

It's been quite warm lately but we're due to get colder weather and snow soon. We had double digits today at 11 degrees!

No complaints, 27F with 3" of snow predicted. The scene outside my window is reminiscent of a Currier & Ives painting.

Well the weather forecaster was sooooooo wrong. :nono: It's been snowing non-stop all day and we have 6" of snow so far.

It's 21F here, with about 5" of snow on the ground and more drifting down. In other words, a typical WNY winter day-no big deal.

We are going to have another snow storm hit us overnight. The local school districts have canceled school for 5 or 6 days just this month. I think I had fewer snow days in the entire 12 years of my public education.

You must be in Minnesota, or at least the Midwest. Same thing going on here in the Twin Cities.

It's 24F here, with a high overcast, but at least it isn't snowing- yet. That, along with freezing rain is forecast for later on today.

Snow, snow, and more snow. . .there must be a foot on the ground now. Ugh. Oh well, we've had very little snow so far this winter, I suppose we were due for it.

But it's about 20 degrees with no wind, so at least it's fairly pleasant outside.

Just came in from clearing snow from steps and doors as it was just about at the point where the the snow would block the door from opening. I don’t mind the snow but get claustrophobic when I can’t get out. Still projected to snow for another six hours.

Snow and freezing rain mix. When I left this morning the driveway was a sheet of ice. :eek2:

Freezing rain is the absolute worst. Millet bird seed works great on icy patches and feeds the birds at the same time.
Thanks for the tip, that's good to know. I've always used non-toxic ice melt for pets with our dog and kitty litter as a back up if I ran out.

Welcome to New England, where it snowed overnight but now it is 40 degrees and sunny, so we are driving around with out sunroofs open.
