Yes. I never let mine out either. Because of the laws here, I have to check for a chip and make sure she does not belong to someone else. I was hoping to get that done today. Catching her was looking promising. Maybe she will return but this, along with the fact that she is wearing a prescription collar makes me think she may have a home. If I can track her to her home, I’ll let them know she is st risk for being picked up by animal control. They may not know of the leash law. The reflectors that we’re on her collar have to be specially attached so they obviously have a concern of her going in the road. :cloudy: I will continue my search for her. Rats. I really hoped she would go into the trailer until I could catch her.

We can only hope that you're right, and she found her way back home. Situations such as this are the reason we never let our cats outside. It's not just the financial part; It's because they have become part of the family, like children.
Growing up we always had indoor/outdoor cats, and some people in my neigbourhood still let their cats out to roam, but I couldn't even imagine letting Ruby outside by herself. I'd worry myself sick until she came back in. Luckily for me she has zero interest in going outside. I'm guessing the time she spent as a stray was enough outside time for her.

Fingers crossed Velcro found her way back home. :crossfingers:

I feel in love with those photos of Banjo showing her displeasure!

Thanks Jcatbird, the kitten is scared, but not shaking and it does not growl or hiss at me. I have been talking to it in the cage and it sits there quietly and looks at me.
I KNEW that sweet face would end up with a foster! And the fact that she (?) wasn't growing or hissing is an excellent omen for the future!

LOL, should have read one more post before I went Google-happy! You found the same thing I did!

I just answered a question on Quora, "Which pets should be brought inside at night? Which pets should be left outside?" I wrote that pets are family members, so the OP should ask themselves, "which family members should be allowed in at night and which ones should be kept out?"

Great answer on that question.

The kitten isn't out of the woods yet. It is tame, but very fearful. The lady is going to foster it for three weeks. Then it will get shipped up north to be adopted. So it has three weeks to calm down and be an adoptable kitten. The foster lady seems super concerned about it, so I know must be a good foster. Anyway lets send some calming vibes out for the little boy.

surya surya I hope the kitty calms down. It looked pretty can when you caught it so it should settle. I loved that first photo. Another Snuggles! Sending hugs vibes!!!

Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 I loved those shots of Banjo too. I wish you’d been here to see her. She is so full of cute! I often find myself laughing so hard at these cats it’s hard to even take the pictures. Maybe that’s how the cats plan it. Banjo prefers to be taking the pictures anyway! I looked back at the pictures and laughed all over again!

Tonight is a BJ night. He is full of energy tonight. He was moving so fast I could hardly get any photos of him. I guess he’s feeling pretty good!

I’m so happy to see him playing tonight. I’m not sure what flavor food he ate this morning but I’m going to go check. We’re going to either feed more, or less of that. I’m still figuring that out.
Have a great night everyone. If BJ really does grow wings, I’ll try to get pictures!:)

I heard some good news about a rescue from a feral colony! Congratulations to Antonio for finding a home! surya surya arranged the process. We’d love to hear more. I know the colony Antonio came from is at very high risk and , a never ending colony, so this is wonderful news. May many more of Antonio’s colony find such love and compassion. I don’t know who adopted him but I am very, very grateful to them.
I also heard that a missing feral from another colony was found again and is safe after being missing for weeks. It seems we have some really great news to celebrate today! :bunnydance::woo::dance:

On my own feral rescue front, it was an interesting day. I’ve always been pretty sure that BJ was the father to Whistle and Banjo. I know that he was the protector of all the outside kitties. Today he demonstrated that he certainly recognizes the kitten calls the Whistle made as a young kitty. I was looking at an early video of Whistle when he was looking up at me and being very vocal about wanting some baby food when all of a sudden a ~BJ~ landed in my lap!

Here is the story.

Mom! I know that voice!

I wasn’t really fooled though. I knew it was just the phone.

Cats always pretend you didn’t really catch them at anything! Poor BJ was ready to jump to find the crying baby! He’s such a good kitty!! I guess if I watch old kitten videos, i’ll turn the sound off from now on. ;)
I’m just glad the great guardian cat understood that the kitty was on the phone instead of being in trouble! He certainly recognized the call! BJ, is that your baby? :redheartpump: Awwwww!
Have a great night everyone!

BJ is such a sweetheart. Can’t get over how good natured he is.

I read about Antonio’s adoption too. Very exciting! I understand the high risk and never ending part. That’s how it is in apartments. People just dump their cats left and right. That’s how we ended up with 2 out of the 3 kitties at home. I also took a newborn kitten my ex’s dog found on a 100 degree summer day and another young cat I lured to my bathroom to the kill shelter. The newborn became someone’s foster failure. It would just upset me to see another new little face, unfixed of course. I probably would have ended up with a colony too if I had stayed. I left but I still pass by the complex often and I wonder about those cats. Sorry for getting off track! I just sympathize with surya surya . Both of you do great work!

Awwww.... BJ. You're such a special boy. You know that right. :catlove:

I can't watch cat videos with the sound on either. The couple times I did, poor Ruby came running in. Not sure if she wanted to meet the other cat, or not. But I don't stress her out with cat videos any more.

kittyluv387 kittyluv387 You didn’t get off track at all. This is all about ferals and rescued cats! I understand how you feel. Wondering. I’m not in an apartment but a rural area so it’s a dumping ground. It’s shameful that people see animals as disposable items! It’s downright painful to those who care to witness this..That’s how it all got started here. This isn’t my first batch either. I’ve had a lifetime of it. I keep hoping for change and working towards that goal. Knowing that others like surya surya and you (along with a lot of other great people here) are out there keeps me going. We reach a lot of bumps in the road but a loft from others can help us to get back up, dust ourselves off and move again. Thank you for the lift!

rubysmama rubysmama Whst does Ruby think about bird videos? Banjo and Whistle love chasing them across my phone screen. Some of the others go to look out the window and the rest either ignore it or just get very confused! BJ never responded much to other kitty videos. I really think he just knew that was a baby he had previously guarded. He’s such a great Tom/Daddy. A cat knight protecting everyone from dragons! Lol

Thank you! And omg I meant to say no-kill not kill. ><

I think at apartments people see cats as temporary play-things. And of course they don't want to pay a non-refundable pet fee plus a refundable deposit when they move from apartment to apartment...sigh. Eyes on the prize though! Helping as many kitties as possible. :)

kittyluv387 kittyluv387 I used to work in property management, among other things! Lol A lot of apartment owners ban pets for the damages done but some hate the rate of animals abandoned there too. Very sad. Pets are living creatures and should be life partners.

How about a smile?

I witnessed two kitties having a pillow fight! Really!

BJ thought he had full ownership of the pillows until he discovered Purry today.

Purry faced his opponent to try to intimidate him but.....

In the end, they agreed to just put up a fence!

I’m glad we didn’t have to settle this in kitty court. Compromise is always the peaceful solution. Good kitties! No stuffing was spilled in this pillow fight!

Have a great night or morning! :heartshape:

Things have been very busy today. A friend is staying with us for a time. The trailer is now a human home once again! No cats inside there!! Lol A very rare thing around here.

Since I was very busy today, Banjo decided to be the House Mother. I caught her getting ready to cook supper but she’s not allowed to use the stove so I resumed my proper place in the family.;)

Here’s what Banjo was thinking.

Mom isn’t here.

I guess it’s up to me to fix supper for everyone.

Let’s see..... certainly not grits! No corn either.

Hmmmmm. Cream of Chicken. Maybe.

What is “Fruit **** tail ?” Is that some kind of chicken tail?

Where’s the baby food? I know Mom has some.

Ohhhh! Here’s the good stuff!

The baby food is there. We’ll have some turkey......

A little canned tuna........
AFDA5494-D0F9-46B3-88F4-69ACB2851914.jpeg

And I’ll get some of this canned chicken breast too! Yum! Mom should leave more often! I’m so glad I learned how to read! The other cats are gonna make me top cat now!

Rats! Mom’s home.
A5B6855A-3D77-4921-8720-AA919C490FD6.jpeg

Ahhh Banjo. My little genius cat!:geekcat: I’ve caught you trying to take over again! :nono:That’s not a very innocent look on your face this time! :flail:
Somehow, I think that Banjo will be taking care of me when I get too old to take care of her! :clapcat:I do love these kitties! :catlove:

I hope everyone had as nice a supper as we did. Banjo learned something new tonight. Fruit Cocktail is not Rooster tail. :p

Banjo opens everything! Lol A few of the kitties do that but Banjo is funny about doing weird things. She is attracted to all telephones, watches everything and manages to work my iPhone. She’s still learning about composition in her photographs. She loves the cat video games of mice and fish. She’s really funny to watch.
Does she open the cupboards herself, like ours do?

News for the post tonight.

Right after we had the night of the comet here, a little kitty appeared!! I named her Prime. She was a perfect baby!
F84BB521-C4AB-46D2-AEB1-C29401A5318F.jpeg

Sweet and gentle,
6D6F0BD4-1852-480F-82D6-A2A06E82C672.jpeg

She gave love and laughter immediately.
915B485F-95B6-4E6E-9760-380B4E946F1D.jpeg

I tried to find out where she came from, to no avail.:(
81242F65-C4EB-43BE-A2B0-1DA1546ECFF3.jpeg

She is a delightful girl and even won admiration and love when I took her for a vet check and shots!
84B08BEF-E805-41E8-BC89-16CC49F4EFD4.jpeg

Although she made me fall in love with her and she claimed me as her Mom, I knew she needed more than I could give her here.
68D013C5-7CBA-4C9D-B209-87B5EB20A408.jpeg

By the time we had the eclipse of the moon, I had to let her go. This was my goodbye that day.
BD4EEB8B-1426-4161-B564-4302BB31C355.jpeg

My foster friend took her but she did not get adopted so she went to another state. I called the shelter often to check on her. Each time it was a bit harder. Because she was an older kitten I worried about the chances of her getting adopted.
Yesterday I called again.
Prime has been adopted!

I will never forget the laughter she gave in our last moments together in play,
10DC2B51-6430-4918-BC5D-F94698AA8692.jpeg

Or the beautiful smile she left in my heart at the end of our very last day.
B7B02688-2AD0-46E1-AFEC-6FA576758B6B.jpeg

Meep smiling and good luck my perfect little Prime. May your knew family cherish you as much as I did. :redheartpump::redheartpump: My heart is still with you.

To those who adopt, remember, they were loved before and should be loved forever. :catlove:
