Hello, everyone! I am new to the Forum and very happy to be here and ask for your advice. I have a 9-year old neutered female cat. I recently had to bring her to live with me and my husband and our neutered 8-year old male cat. That was around 3 months ago. We did the normal stuff, i.e. divided the house in two camps and gradually brought them together. Unfortunately, they still do not get along. What is particularly worrying is the fact that my female cat at some point started urinating on our bed. She did it 3 times so far. We changed her litter-box to a much bigger one and we made sure that we have an extra one for both of them in the house (although they both insinst on using just the one for the most part) and she stopped with the urinating for around two weeks, but today she urinated while my husband was asleep on the bed. She climbed up next to him, peed and left! The other cat was in the living room fast asleep at the time. We are unable to explain this behavior. We are truly doing our best to make her feel at ease. We understand that this is not the best thing for her, she has been used to living in another house for so many years now, but we are concerned about the fact that the two cats do not seem to warm up to each other. Our male cat is sometimes trying to approach the female one but she won’t have it. She is constantly uneasy it seems, does not want to play with us and we feel that she is not feeling well at all being here. What can we do to make her feel better most importantly stop her from peeing on the bed? Thank you so much for your help.

Hello and welcome to TCS. :wave2: Sorry it's your new cat's litter box issue that brought you here. :(

Have you taken her for a vet checkup yet? UTI's can cause inappropriate peeing. And stress can cause UTIs. So a vet checkup to rule out an UTI is always the best first step.

If an UTI is ruled out, then you may have to work on a re-introduction between the cats. You could also look into calming products like Feliway and calming treats/collars.

TCS has several (mostly short) articles with more info. Here are the links:
