My cat was being fed Beyond cat food, Fancy Feast wet food. He LOVES gravy, But lately he only smells it, he might lick but never eats it. He uses the towel to cover the wet food with his paws.
I had mashed potatoes with gravy and he licked the entire lid. Not sure whether the cat food had gravy or not recently but he Loves Meow Mix chicken flavor and all of his TEMPTATION Cat Treats.

Ah, the ever-picky cats. We have all been there. :alright:

If I were you, I would buy some individual cans of food from your local grocery store/PetSmart/whatever and see if you get a hit on food. He may just be bored of the Beyond and Fancy Feast. Try different textures (shreds, meaty bits, pate, mousse, etc.) as well. Friskies would be a good and inexpensive brand to try textures on.

Lydia did this back in November. She suddenly hated all her normal foods. I had to buy a bunch of brands, proteins, and textures to find what she liked again. Pate mixed with some broth can sometimes satisfy a gravy lover.

Also if they suddenly stop liking foods that they'd normally chew, it could be dental related

Never try to figure out cats. Snoop suddenly quit eating his green pea and duck wet food. Because of his eating issues, I had to try a new limited ingredient diet so I bought the green pea and venison by Natural Balance. It was harder to find and $6.00 more a case. That was several months ago. I decided to try the duck again and bought one can. He pounced on it like it was a long lost friend. Natural Balance said nothing changed as far as the ingredients. Snoop just changed his mind twice.

I would actually suggest a few things because I have been through this with my gang of 4 in the past!

Temptations cat treats can be highly addictive and so the flavor can make cats preferential in what they eat if they are getting too many treats. My kitties started picking up on moments when they would be getting treats and stopped eating anything else before they got treats. I stopped giving them treats for awhile and they stopped giving me food protests.

Another thing I can think of that might be causing this is Fancy Feast (Purina) may have recently went through a slight recipe change. They are actually calling it a "realignment" of their ingredients. The ingredients label looks identical but all 4 of my cats stopped eating this about 2 months ago. They now won't eat any flavors except one. Maybe the supplier you get your cat food from had a large stock and is now selling cans of the new stuff?

I also would recommend trying Tiny Tiger which is a brand available online through Chewy. It is their brand and I think it is fairly similar to Fancy Feast. They have pate, chunks in gravy, and even chunks in EXTRA gravy. All of them are gran-free and seem fairly decent for the price! My Fancy Feast lovers transitioned to this quite easily. :)
