What's My Kitten's Breed? Mix Hard To Identify.

Howdy! Freddie Mercury was rescued by a family member back in November 2018 - Born in October. I took her in immediately. The older she gets the more her pattern and coat changes. At first glance people tell me she's Siamese, but I know that can't be true.

After taking a good look at her I thought she may be a Mitted Minx Ragdoll. Minx only because her eyes were so blue, but now they are almost a pale sea-green. Definitely has some tabby in her (stripes on body/legs and spots down her back). Others say she is definitely a Ragdoll, but her eye color makes me think otherwise.

Please help me identify Freddie's breed!

*I meant to say others think she is a Snowshoe!

She’s beautiful! I would describe her as a seal point mitted Domestic Shorthair. Since she has white feet, I would say she’s more of a Snowshoe lookalike than a Siamese lookalike. She might have some Snowshoe ancestry, or she might have Siamese ancestry, mixed with a bicolor cat (that is how Snowshoe cats came to be, after all!). With cats, it’s hard to tell for sure what breeds (if any) they might have in them.

Pale sea green eyes, huh? Ragdolls are renown some of them dont have the typical siamese blue eyes.
So my guess is, her siamese point gene comes via a ragdoll as nearest pointed ancestor...

She herself will be described as above, mitted seal point domestic...

Tail doesnt seem fluffy so she is prob shorthair for real.

Gorgeous girl, there needs to be color point on both sides to get a color point kitten, so you can be assured she has Siamese on both sides in her ancestry.

Thank you! That’s interesting I did not know that. I love her stripes- makes her unique. I suppose one of her parents was a tabby?

So cute! With that tabby striping & M plus the splotch on her face I'd want to call her a torbie point but I have no idea if there is any such thing.

Thanks! Wow I just googled “tortie point” such interesting patterns on their faces! She doesn’t have those type of extreme markings thought.

Your kitty is not a tortie point, torbie point, or lynx point (tabby point). I would describe her as a seal point and white domestic shorthair. She is a very pretty girl!

The "tabby" stripes are just ghost markings, which are more obvious on some pointed cats than on others. She is genetically a pointed solid (non-tabby), so to answer your question above, she wouldn't necessarily have had a tabby parent. Because solid and colorpoint are both recessive, her parents could have been almost any color (tabby, solid, pointed, etc.) as long as they both carried solid and colorpoint, and at least one parent had white markings.

Thank you! I couldn’t find any photos of other pointed cats with stripes so I was wondering how she even had them. What you explained makes sense. Fascinating genetics, cats have.

You have gotten a lot of replies here and none have been exactly correct. We can tell you what color your cat is but without genetic testing it’s almost impossible to tell breed. She is a smoke seal point. The smoke is what allows you to see her stripes. Smoke means what a lot of people refer to ask ghost tabby. She also has a mink coat which is what allows you to see the color in her body and not just her points. Also, mink have a bit of sea green in their eyes usually. Burmese and tonkinese have mink coats. British shorthairs are more common for the smoke seal coloration. She also has the gene for white patching as you can see on her feet and chin. Genetically her coat color is very unique. She’s most likely very much a mix breed when it comes to what breed she is. Gorgeous cat.
