More progress with Luna: She comes out of hiding and rubs herself against my legs when I bring her breakfast. I can pet her all over when she's out and about. :clapcat:

A dog that's been at the shelter for nearly a year is going to his new home on Friday. :woohoo:
I knew she would end up loving you. Do you think you may adopt her in time?
Glad doggie is getting a nice home.

No, Mowgli hates other cats, so another one isn't an option. Her adoption chances are better if we can show that she's willing to be touched by people other than her former owner, though, and accepting affection should make her stay at the shelter more pleasant for her.

Today it was sunny and in the high 40s (°F). It won't last, but was a nice break from winter weather.

Weather was beautiful today and up in the 60's!Doors and windows open, kitties enjoying the breeze and the sunshine....oh yes...and the birds.Sitting at the table drinking my coffee and my Mystery comes flying up on the table like a mad cat, eyes all dark and her stub poofy. All at once, she throws herself down on her side, rolls over, makes extremely cute,purring...and takes a nap.My goodness...she wore herself out!And the pie....divine!

One of the shelter's feral cats, Enzo, hasn't been seen since mid-2015. We looked for him for months and sadly assumed that he'd somehow managed to escape and was presumably dead, since he never turned up, even at the property where his colony was originally trapped.

Today we were doing an informal "inventory" out in the feral enclosure and came across two of the most recent additions hiding under some shrubbery with a huge black and white cat our manager of two years had never seen. I had, but not for ages - it was Enzo!!!! He looked quite fit and as aggressive as ever. :yess:

His eye looked perfectly normal yesterday - that photo was from right after he was trapped and neutered. It was such a relief to see his eye. We had the worst time getting antibiotics into him because he was extremely aggressive and housed with other cats from his colony. We had to put the meds on a saucer in liquid treats and slide it in front of him. Half the time he was up on a high shelf, so you had to wear heavy gloves because he attacked.

There's no way you could ever pet Enzo. That's true of most of the feral colony. They're the ones we couldn't socialize and find homes for and that couldn't be returned to where they were trapped.

Our break from cold winter weather is continuing.

DH and I celebrated Valentine's Day today. We never celebrate on the actual day because the restaurants are too crowded and usually try to rush you through your meal. We went to our favorite brunch spot, nothing fancy but cozy atmosphere and delicious comfort food. :yummy:
