Hi everyone! Wow I had no idea i would be getting responses so fast! It was honestly just a desperate attempt so I'm so happy you kind people exist ❤ So the cats are in Colorado springs and he is saying I have to buy them from him but I have proof they're mine (and also recordings of him being abusive to me so he will drop this pretty fast) I would love for them to come to a home, instead of shelter. I'm sorry I kept you guys hanging!

No worries, we're just glad you're here! So, are you going to be able to manage this?
I have a person who might be able to take them in the next day or so, foster them and adopt them. So, they have a home to go to but this chance isn't going to exist for much longer.
You are saying that you won't be able to get the cats out in the next day or so due to the complications?

From what you're saying in your second post above, it seems to me that you need quite a bit more time to get things arranged.

My foster is only available for a very limited time, and we're both a little too far away to be flexible enough and light-footed enough that we could be ready for whenever you have the cats out of there and over at the neighbors' house.

If I may, I would like to suggest that in addition to the shelters you contacted, if you haven't already that you also contact the veterinary clinics in and around Colorado Springs (CS) for possible fosters and/or adopters.

Also, talk to TNR (Trap Neuter Release) groups in and around CS who may have foster people available who are able to take your kitties, and/or who could handle transport.

Alleycat Allies could be a possible source of information regarding groups that are located in your area of concern.
Feral Friends Network Connect

People who are located closer to the cats' location will be a lot better able to accommodate your time constraints/requirements.

I am keeping my fingers crossed! :vibes::crossfingers:

It takes three days of no food or even little food/minimal eating for cats to start going into liver failure. I had one cat die of that after he didn't eat from a bad upper respiratory infection, couldn't smell the food so wasn't eating. I was giving him subcutaneous fluids and medications and he was eating a little but not enough. It was a strange comfort to learn once I got him to the vet hospital that he actually had liver cancer and wouldn't have survived anyway.

It depends on the cat's build and general health. My Maine coon mix is 14 and has always been thin and active and hard to keep weight on. He was diagnosed with cancer last October and had a very rough month with chemotherapy and side effects. He wouldn't eat and went from almost twelve pounds to nine pounds, looked like a skeleton. Almost had a feeding tube put in. His liver started to get stressed. Then he got better. He's now the heaviest he's ever been, twelve and a half pounds, eats well, cancer was gone with chemotherapy. Liver was fine then different liver values rose from chemo so he took a break.
Three days of no food at all or barely any is definitely bad for and dangerous for cats, vets have told me that heavy cats with hanging "suitcase" type bellies are more at risk than thinner cats but who knows.

I hope these cats are safe and can be taken out of this place very soon!
Having the police escort whoever picks them up is strongly recommended. Police are available to escort for safety if asked even without proof of ownership if you explain that there's domestic violence.

If they see the cats are being removed to a safe situation they may not call animal control. If the conditions are dangerous they may call. Please get the cats out ASAP!!!

It's better to call animal control then let them continue to suffer and go hungry. Think how stressed and scared they must be. No one will let your ex play games about selling or owning the cats if the conditions are as bad as described. One call from the op to animal control and they will be taken and he'd be arrested for animal cruelty and neglect.
I hope everyone is ok and safe.
