I'm movin' the little princess off clay. Has anyone used both and have a preference for one over the other? Why?

The wheat-based litter is less expensive than the corn-based litter.

Thanks!

PS - Sorry if this topic has been previously addressed "ad nauseum" and I'm just too lazy to research it myself.

I've only used the wheat based litter and it's probably just a quirk of mine but I can't stand the way it smells. I've never tried the corn based. I do like the pine litter but found I was allergic to it.

I liked WBCL, but not that much. My cats hated it.

I really did like Swheat scoop, I mixed it with Arm & Hammer High Performance to help with odors. (I do not use that A&H by itself as it is very strong smelling, mixed a small amount in with the Swheat but not enough to upset the kitties noses) Clumped well. MUCH nicer than the clay I was using!

I now use chicken feed, not spectacular for odors, doesn't clump the best, but it works, esp. with my numbers!

I liked WBCL but my cat had issues with it.
She licked herself so my much she got a Rodent Lip - Fat lip!
after 2 weeks of use.
I do use Swheat scoop now mixed with Natures Miracle and have no issues.
Swheat scoop does not have alot of clumping power but Natures Miracle
does, so I am trying for best of both worlds.

I usedto buy WBCL. Clumps great but that price Yikes. It had above-average odor control imho. I've seen Swheat Scoop but never tried it

Edit to say: Other forum members have mentioned that WBCL offers plans for buyers to save on costs. I think it involves saving receipts or something like that.

Correct. Here's a link to their Customer Rewards program.

When you consider the cost of WBCL, and the amount of product that you need to buy in order to qualify for the program, it really isn't very generous at all. But for anyone who is going to buy it anyway, it's obviously better than nothing.

I use WBCL as it is the recommended one for the Litter Robot. When I add some more, I'll put in also a box of baking soda and run a manual cycle to mix it up.

I've used both. Swheat Scoop I found to be very dusty (the litter box is beside my dark wood dresser), didn't clump as well as WBCL and didn't control the odour as well as WBCL.

I switched to WBCL and although it is expensive, I find it last a lot longer than any other litter I've EVER bought so the high cost up front is collected back over the long-term.

I've used sWheatScoop multi-cat for a long time. I love that it's natural, but it does get dusty and tracks (pretty much like any litter). My 4 cats like it. The one thing I personally love is that it's so absolutely easy to clean (I bleach clean my litter boxes every month, one at a time, then spray with rubbing alcohol).

I've seen how World's Best Cat litter works this past couple of weeks while pet-sitting for 5 cats. It doesn't seem to dust up as much as sWheatScoop, but it is a covered litter box at their house, so not entirely sure. It scoops up easily like sWheatScoop and from my scoopin' it appears that it would have an easy clean entirely out ability as well. It also tracks.

I'm going to buy the World's Best Cat Litter this next month to see the difference for my cats.

I've tried both. I -- and my cats -- prefer Swheat Scoop.

The only reason I tried WBCL was because it was $1 on a mark-down table, somewhere, and I decided it might be handy to have as "back-up". Though it was marked down & that "should have told me something", it was supposed to be "the world's best"? Who was I to judge without trying it? I, honestly, don't remember much about it, except that (in my opinion) it wasn't the "world's best" and I didn't like it, nor did my cats.

My cats have never had a problem, or dislike, for Swheat Scoop. I like it because it's natural and "soft" -- it is, basically, a food that will break down in their digestive systems if they ingest any (while cleaning themselves, etc.), and, even being a clumping litter, I believe it will break down before sticking to their insides and doing any damage (unlike, perhaps, chemically-treated, clumping litters). It smells good and has proven safe for both adult cats & kittens. It's flushable, though I've never tried that.

I do keep a couple bags of natural, non-clumping litter on hand, now, as back-up, in case I can't get Swheat Scoop, for any reason. My cats use that, as well, without problems. (I bought those bags when I couldn't get Swheat Scoop, anywhere.)

:)

P.S. There are two types of Shweat Scoop -- one for single cat households and one for multi-cat households. Even though there is, often, only one cat in the house, I use the "multi-cat", believing it might have more clumping ability and odor control than "single". But, honestly, I don't know what the difference is -- both work equally (and very) well, I think.

I used to use World’s Best for my cat. It has a bit of a funny smell to it, not unpleasant, but a bit strong, but it worked well. But, it is not a product you want to use if you have ever had mice or even the potential for mice. I had never had them and then had a huge, huge infestation after I started using this litter, which they apparently find delicious.

What's with the mice infestation? Is your cat broken? I would think that would save you money on cat food. :D

I've tried a number of litters. We tried Swheat Scoop and I remember it was dusty and didn't control odor well. WBCL is a worthy defender against Krista, especically lately with her antibiotic soupy poops. And WBCL seems to last a good deal longer than other litters.

I had never had mice before and it took me a week or two to realize what those black specks in the cats litter were. And my cat Murphy was 18 at the time and apparently didn’t care if she was sharing not only her litterbox but the entire basement with a large quantity of mice. It took several weeks of DeCon and dozens of old fashioned mouse traps to clear them out. And of course that was the end of using Worlds Best Litter. That was nine years ago and not a mouse since then.

18! He was retired. Let a younger cat chase those mice.

Krista is almost 15 and I don't know that she would have done much either.

It just sounds ironically humorous that your cat was indirectly the cause of a mice infestation rather than its solution.

The lesson being if you are going to use a plant based litter you better recognize what mouse poop looks like.

To those who shared the "mice warnings" -- thanks!! Good to know!

(I've never had rodent or insect problems with Swheat Scoop.)

Thank you so very much! I think I'll change my order back to the sWheatScoop which I've been using for so long! Don't want to take any chances that my beloveds won't like or use it! I really appreciate your help! <3
