I order some cat food from Amazon. But it's Friskies and comes from the Amazon distribution center so it's OK. But it often comes all banged up. I think the Amazon workers load boxes by throwing stuff from 5 feet away ;). Chewy parcels are always in better condition.

I've never gotten any cases of food from Amazon that were banged up. I have gotten quite a few items that were in a much bigger box than they needed to be though. That makes Sophie's day. I take one of their favorite toys- a big jingle ball with a feather on it and toss it into the box. She jumps in after it and has lots of fun batting it around in the box. It can't get knocked under anything and it can't "escape".

I have to say, I've gotten a few mildly banged cans in shipments from both Amazon and Chew. And frankly, I just got one from my pet food store. I think it happens during the manufacturer to retailer exchange. Both shipments from Amazon and Chewy have been well packaged by that company and there was no obvious damage on the outside of the box.

Such as?
What do brands do you find to have better prices on Amazon?
And many, many sellers of cat food cans on Amazon are top notch scammers.
There's a well known scam that Amazon never takes care of where creeps list 1 3oz can for 24.99 and trick people into thinking they're getting a case.
Or scammers are apparently relabeling cheap cat food as higher priced brands.
The times when I've needed amazon same day and ended up with complete garbage is laughable.
And most of the things I order off of Chewy aren't on Amazon OR they are insanely overpriced.
Cat litter off of amazon would cost me 3X as much.
Also TIKI cat. Either way overpriced on Amazon, limited selection or sold by people selling old merch.
Lotus, amazing cat food. Not sold on Amazon.
Merrick, cheaper on Chewy aView attachment 272376 View attachment 272377 nd fresh.
On Amazon I have received busted, old cans half the time. I use Amazon Prime all the time, but for cat supplies I know I am rolling the dice as to what condition I receive food in.
I just got done dealing with such a bad mess up by amazon that their executive office sent me a gift card.
And that's ONLY after spending a lot of time on twitter griping.
I haven't bought cat food online anywhere,(only had Seryy since Dec 28'18) so can't say about that, but I am not aware of ANY RETAILER with Amazon's 'incomparable A-Z guarantee'! I have used Amazon since '98,mostly for books, music, household, some clothes, and have never once had a problem with them! My favorite store....BAR NONE! Recently bought an excellent cat carrier,AmazonBasics 23-Inch Two-Door Top-Load Pet Kennel excellent quality, price/value,and arrived in 2 days, without even being a Prime member!

Hahaha, I recently ordered a cat carrier from Amazon which arrived in a huge box. My son cut a door in it and a few smaller holes on the top and sides, and Seryy loves her playhouse! Her favorite toy is a hay bale twine, so she loves when we put an end of the twine through one of the holes and she grabs it and often pulls it out her door! She also sleeps on the box top quite often.

I visited this pet food website Chewy and the food quality and high prices for better food were a turn off. The site mostly sells supermarket cat food, including Purina, Meow Mix, and Temptations. And a lot of dry kibble food promotion as well. Then those areas of the site with better food, the prices are not reasonable AT ALL!!! Too expensive for the average working person. They format the site like if you're buying things on sale when you're actually NOT, including shipping and mailing costs. Not sure why all the hoopla about Chew.com.
The only, "hoopla" I've heard are TV commercials. That said, I've found better deals Amazon Prime with free 2 day shipping.

I usually order my stuff off Amazon because Prime but checked Chewy last time because I couldn't one of my items, prices were the same or slightly better, more options and it came faster, plus I signed up for autoship and saved another $20. I hear their customer service is top notch.

I used Chewy exclusively for years because of the convenience of auto-shipping, and it carries Weruva, a good brand that I can't get at my local stores. I found the Chewy pricing on regular brands (by the case) to be better than the single can pricing that I was paying in the local stores. But I started having issues with damaged shipments--the cans arrived dented. Chewy would send free replacement cases, even if only a few cans were dented. That was great, but it got to the point where every single shipment contained damaged cans. I got a shipment where a can had actually bust open, spewing cat food everywhere, and that's when I stopped using Chewy. It was just too much hassle every time. No customer wants to complain and request a replacement for every shipment.

As someone who works for the company that delivers Chewy (FedEx) I can tell you that you can likely blame your shipping company for that. In such an instance I would advise calling not only Chewy, but your local FedEx ground facility to file a complaint. Some of those boys need a knock the head!

That's a good point, but it was the lack of packing materials that was the problem. For some reason, Chewy stopped putting packing material inside the boxes. It was literally just cases of food rattling around, with no cushion. I emailed Chewy specifically about this issue (lack of packing material), but nothing got better. I switched to ordering from Amazon last year, and haven't had any damage issues with Amazon cat food shipments, but I do wish I could go back to Chewy. Maybe I will re-try someday.

Actually, I assumed that it was the lack of packing material. But it was possible the cases were dented before they were shipped to me.

Yup. Darwin's ships with Fedex too and I filed a complaint once about a box that looked like it had been set in standing water. They said they get more complaints about the Fedex deliveries than they'd like, and that they compile the complaints they get from customers about damaged shipments and forward them to the Fedex main office. This seems to work since I've not had any shipping related issues since then.

I can tell you what the standing water thing is too. The packages come into the facility on a great big trailer in loads of a few thousand. They're supposed to be waterproof, but often times they aren't. Water pools in the bottom of the trailer and soaks everything. If the facility was doing what they were supposed to, they'd repackage your stuff as soon as they saw it. They aren't supposed to ship out soggy boxes. The drivers in my facility at least have the decency to shove them back to the package handlers and say 'I am NOT delivering this.'

I have a friend that works for FedEx and they all HATE chewy boxes because they are so heavy. Wouldn't be surprised if they make games out of roughing them up :/

I don't order litter from Chewy or Amazon for that reason. Those drivers don't deserve that. Sometimes I do order it online from Petsmart or Target but I always pick it up in store.

My closest PetSmart or Target is 45 mins. Petco is 1.5 hours. I just can't justify the trips unfortunately, especially when I can get my cat, rat, and bird food in one shipment. I don't do litter though!

I am on good terms with my delivery guys because I run a business out of my home. I have a snack and drink table out for them at all times to grab whatever they like. It's not much but they appreciate it!

I'm lucky enough to have a boutique pet food store very close to me, so I don't have to ship much food in order to get the good stuff. When I do want to order online I usually give both Chewy and Amazon a look to compare prices. I generally find, as a poster above mentioned, that Chewy's prices are the same or slightly better. They do often have different things if you are looking for a case of mixed flavors or want the larger cans. That said, Chewy's shipping has been extremely fast, with the food arriving before I even start looking for it. I think which is better depends on what you are getting at any given time. I'm glad to have both, because I have found what I am looking for at one and not the other more than once.

They are good for toys and litter. I got a giant pail of my girls litter for the same price that I pay for a much smaller one at Walmart.

Chewy is amazing. They don't over charge for their cat food and in most cases the price is equal or lower than most competitors. The premium cat food is expensive but not more expensive than at other stores. They also stand behind their products and have their own brands which have become quite reputable. Their cat trees, for example, under the brand Frisco are awesome! We have had one for almost a year and with 4 cats constantly beating it up, it still looks practically brand new including the scratching posts on it. Frisco also has a line of cat litter which is actually really good stuff. The unscented clumping stuff is $13 for a 35 pound bag. It does not track too bad and it keeps odor down to a minimal. I add in some baking soda as an added layer of protection against odors.

Then Chewy has their customer service and FREE shipping over $49. Every single time I have called them they have refunded me for my purchase without asking many questions. Sometimes they don't even want the food back, they ask me to donate it. Having 4 cats the issue of "bad food" (in their opinion) happens more often than I would like. Chewy has always supported me in returning or donating my unwanted food and refunding my card. I have even gotten into conversations about my cats with Chewy customer service members before! Most of them have pets and similar experiences to relate to.

Another plus is the shipping speed. Most of the time I get my products 1-2 days after I order them. So yes, is some stuff expensive on Chewy? Of course. But this is not necessarily Chewy's pricing guidelines but rather the cat food companies.
