You must be in a colder part of the Chicagoland area than me, because my Accuweather says right now in my town it's -2 and feels like -9.
Although a native Chicagoan, I'm north of the city now.

Wind chill of -20F. Cuddle with the cats time, under a heated blanket.

Around here we make jokes about Southerners clearing out the grocery store before bad weather. But last time there was a blizzard forecasted, I was at the store and the bread aisle was empty. So I guess we do it too!

it's currently 13 degrees F, with a wind chill of 2 degrees. :headshake: though, it's sunny here.

yesterday and the day before, both daytime and nighttime temps were just plain frigid. :cold: the high's were up close to 10 degrees F, and the lows were 0 or 2 degrees. the windchill was such that it was dangerous to go outdoors with (any) skin exposed -- 5 minutes or longer could result in frostbite.

i even turned the thermostat up 2 degrees, from the lowest temp that prevents the pipes from freezing. tomorrow we're forecast to get up to 32 degrees F or so, at which point i'll turn the thermostat back down.

Haha, yep!

It's going to be 45 degrees tomorrow. One of my co-workers says he'll be wearing shorts. Let's see if he sticks to that!
It was around 50 the other morning when I got to work at 5:45 AM. I didn't bother wearing a jacket. I was going from the house to the car to the office. I was chilly but it wasn't unbearable. You wouldn't believe how many people scolded me for not "bundling up". People were coming in wearing Uggs, parkas, gloves, scarves and hats. Like they were at the North Pole or something. It was comical. I've lived here for 16 years so yes, I get it that our blood is thinner and what we call cold is different than what others call cold but that was just ridiculous.

ETA: Northerners who come down here in the winter DO wear shorts with their winter coats. They stand out like sore thumbs. No need to look at their license plates to have an idea of where they are from

Just left work and it almost feels HOT outside! Google says it's 44 degrees already. Nice and sunny. Almost no wind. I'm definitely ditching the coat when I get home.

If he wears shorts tomorrow he won't be wearing a coat! Although, yes, a sweatshirt with shorts is not an uncommon clothing choice around here. Legs are tougher than arms, lol.
