Finally I'll have something to do with my spare time as I volunteered at a local charity shop so will be working there three days a week in the morning. I'm still on a job hunt though am using this to use up my time whilst I get a job offer, since it's been pretty hard to look for jobs lately - I've been rejected three times and I have a disability which makes it harder for me to do a lot of retail/barista jobs that involve standing up for a long time.

I called my ISP and told them "look, my internet sucks, do something". (my son did a ping test this morning before class and got 1000). They told me they just formed a plan in my area that doubles the internet speed and it's only around $5 a month extra. Since I've had them for 6.5 years, it's only a $10 one time fee to exchange the router and do whatever they need to do to the line coming in the phone box outside.(upgrade wires or something...not sure) It's still not a great plan, but it is better than what I have now. I had faster service with dial up back in the '90's than what I have now.

No mention of cold. So I guess they're still true to their motto! I know it's not an official motto, but still. They're not betraying it. LOL

It's -22 here, right now. I wish they'd cancelled the mail, but it looks like my 3 digit wasn't on there.

Edit: I lied. I found it with a second look. I think.

It's -16 here. We need groceries . . . I think it's time to check out the online ordering thing with Wal*Mart; have them get all our crap together and then just send John to pick it up so I don't have to get the baby out. Assuming our small town offers that.

Does anyone here have Twitter and if so what do you think about it? Do I have to get it on my phone or can I get one on my computer?
I'm late, but I do, and haven't had any problems or issues in several years.

You can create a gmail email account and get a google phone number and use that.
I did not know that!

Do you have any idea how hard it is to type when you have a wireless keyboard and it's on your lap...and so is the cat?
Laptop, and yes.

"Black ice, however, will have us indoors warming our buns by the fire. Deal with it." Can't say that I blame them. Better no mail than no mailman because the poor dear is in a ditch somewhere.

Not getting that cold here, but around 29 degrees, which is DANGED COLD for this area.

It wasn't actually so bad today here. Yes, -20 temps, but hardly any wind so it wasn't terrible. Pretty sure the carriers could have delivered without freezing to death. But it's good that they're starting to be more considerate of the carriers. They used to make them go out in blizzards and ice and lightning and everything. Now, safety is king. Probably too many lawsuits and Workers' Comp claims.

I sure wouldn't want to be delivering mail in this nastiness. I left Aedan home with Daddy while I made a grocery run. I wasn't about to take him out in this nastiness and John would have grabbed the wrong stuff. My legs went numb. The heater in the car either wasn't working properly or it's just too cold for it.

I'm so annoyed by this illness. I thought I was getting over this flu or whatever because I haven't been having as bad of headaches or night sweats and my throat had stopped hurting, even though I was still feeling weak and fatigued overall a bit yucky.

But the past couple of days, the sore throat has started up again, mostly on the left side. I'm not sure if I should go to urgent care again or if it'll be just as useless as last time when all they could tell me was that I didn't have strep.

I'm very over feeling like this, though.

Do you try traditional home remedies? Not sure if they'll work. . . I'm probably no help, sorry.

No, I appreciate it. I tried doing a salt water gargle earlier. I've mostly been resting and using a heating pad and taking ibuprofen. All I really want to drink is water so not even tea with honey wounds super appealing.

I don't remember - did you say they gave you antibiotics? If not, it's possible that you do have strep and you got a false negative. I once had a false negative; they said if it wasn't strep, it was probably mono. Gave me antibiotics and said if they didn't work, they would diagnose mono but if they did, they were calling it strep. They worked.

I am so very cold and crave something sweet. Wish I could get out and about. Ever since the cookie thread was started I have been craving anything and everything.
