Question Of The Day, Sunday, 1/27/19

good morning!

since it's still very cold here, today i've decided to bake some cookies! i have dough balls of this in my freezer already, so it'll just be popping them on a baking sheet and into the oven to bake.

so for today's Question of the Day......



What are some of your favorite cookies?



i'll start!

my favorite kind of cookie is oatmeal peanut butter, which i'll be baking today. they're really crispy and crunchy, but not overly dry (like i've found that regular peanut butter cookies tend to be).

for store bought cookies, my favorites are Dare brand maple leaf sandwich cookies , and i love pecan sandies too!

my 'everyday' cookie is usually vanilla sandwich cookies.

Ooo I LOVE those Dare Maple Leaf cookies also. I'm not big on store bought cookies for the most part but those ARE delicious.

If homemade, I really like soft ginger cookies a lot. Hard to pass up. Or, Toll House cookies hot out of the oven.

As a kid, there used to be a cookie that isn't made anymore; was a soft vanillaish one with marshmallow and a very thin layer of jam sandwiched in it. Sort of looked like a Mallomar but without chocolate. Gosh I loved those. I probably ate way too many of them at a time.

Oatmeal cookies- especially with raisins.

I inherited my grandfather's shortbread cookie recipe, they melt in your mouth.
Every year before Christmas, I get asked if I'm going to make them. And of course, I always do! They are fantastic!

I love shortbread cookies! And Snickerdoodles. Great Harvest Bread Co. makes incredible cookies. I love their chocolate chip and their salted caramel cookies. And their cookie mixes are great! Yum.

My husband loves their scones.

I love both snickerdoodles and oatmeal semi-sweet chocolate chip but peanut butter cookies with a Hershey's Kiss on top are also a favorite.

How does anyone choose a favorite cookie? I like anything that's soft and doesn't have coconut. Of course, crunchy cookies like Oreos and Nutter Butters are wonderful too.

I love peanut butter milk chocolate cookies. One of our grocery stores (Jewel) makes some to die for. I printed out a recipe that I will try to make soon. It's so cold here now butter won't soften when left out of the fridge.

I think for a favorite store bought,I'd have to say the windmill cookies would be.Homemade?Oh my....I think I'd have to say a jubilee from Fanny Farmer's cookbook.

I'm not much for cookies, but I can't resist a homemade snickerdoodle (and I'll agree, shortbread is pretty tasty) or those peanut butter ones with the little chocolate kiss on top.
Usually dessert is a second or seventh portion of what I already ate

Russian Tea Cakes, chocolate chip, monster cookies, and white chocolate, macadamia nut and cranberry.

I love baking and play around with recipes. I have the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. Crispy edges, soft center. Those are my favorite. I also like London Fog melting moments and Chaidoodles (chia snickerdoodles with cardamom), too.

What are London Fog melting moments? Sounds amazing.

I am sooo hungry for cookies ever since this thread began. I may get some from the store today but I'm craving the ones I've read about on here that are homemade.

Anzacs. If you use the right oats they're gluten-free, which I and so many people now need to be. Easy to make and yummy.

Oh lord, cookies! Rick lives to eat cookies and I enjoy baking them. It works. I think I make more snickerdoodles than any other cookie because Rick loves them so much. Chocolate chip is close second for him.

Me? Well, it's hard to just pick one. I dearly love chocolate chip, but they have to be chewy. I have a recipe for lemon spongecake cookies that are frosted with a lemon icing. And then I sprinkle lemon sugar over the icing. Those are a really close second. And everybody seems to like them; when I make them, they go quickly.

My favorites are cowboy cookies. I first made them back in the early 2000s and they remain my very favorite.
