Don't know if anyone heard about this or if I'm allowed to post it but I heard about it on the news and it is so heartbreaking. . .

This really should be put up in the IMO thread. Not because I think it doesn't belong here, it is what's on your mind. But I think it will get a better response there.
That being said, this really :censored: me off. Being half Indian, I was always taught that tribal elders should be respected. Obviously, this kid doesn't respect anything. Just look at his face.

Aedan is getting very good at petting the kitties instead of smacking them. He's learned how to get his hand on them gently. He still pets against the grain a bit, but they just sit there with slightly annoyed looks, then give him a nuzzle and go off to do cat stuff.
@Alicia88 - this reminds me of the special bond between my neighbour's son and my (late) Lotje.

I also missed it, because I went to bed early since I was feeling absolutely wretched again. I'll just have to content myself with people's photos.

Went out in what felt like -30C last night around 12 am trying to see if I could get a picture of the lunar eclipse. Not a great picture. Perhaps I will have a better camera in 2021.

Looks like the red kool-aid guy.
Where are you? I took the dogs out at midnight and the moon was huge and lit the ground like daylight. Didn't even realize there was an eclipse.

I saw this morning on CNN that other videos show that it wasn't quite like that, it wasn't the kids who were the culprits but the stupid adults who egged them on and that if anyone made any nasty remarks it was not the kids. I have also heard no recordings of slurs etc, only reports that there were and that is second-hand hearsay and thus not confirming anything. The look on that particular kid's face could be anything, he really looked like he was making a "friendly stone-face", semi-smiling but not belligerent, trying hard not to show any kind of emotion. In no report did I see that he said anything to anyone, that the tribal elder walked right up to him, all the while drumming and chanting, nobody got in his way as he was making it to the top of the Lincoln memorial. Pictures can be deceiving, I will keep my opinion to myself as I was not there.

kashmir64 kashmir64 - I'm in Toronto, actually. This one was pretty rare from what they were saying so I at least wanted one picture.

Do you see the red kool-aid man's face though? In my picture. You might have to turn up the brightness on your device and stare at it a little bit. Definitely there. Looks like he's winking.

I had to open the picture in full screen...and there he was. How cool (pun intended).

It doesn't matter who started it. He's a Tribal Elder.
I guess you would need to be raised Indian (at least partially) to understand. I do get where you're coming from, but he's an Elder...you don't do that.

I've been rather absent on TCS for the last few weeks, dealing with the results of an auto accident I was in on Christmas Eve. Fortunately I'm okay (except for my bruised ego - it was my fault), but my car was totaled.

Well, I brought a "new" car home the other day. It's a used 2014 Dodge Dart, a red four-door with a standard transmission (which is what I prefer), and I'm still working on getting used to the larger size (my old car was a Toyota Echo). My mechanic looked it over before we bought it and identified a couple of issues that needed to be addressed - it had obviously been in a minor fender bender at some point, so the dealer needed to give it an alignment, and the windshield washer leaked rather than spraying. The dealer took care of both these items, and also lowered the price by $1000 when I showed them the evidence of the fender bender - it didn't appear on the CarFax report, presumably because it was so minor that it hadn't been reported, so before I showed them they'd been trying to claim that the car was in "Clean Retail" condition.

This is the first car I've ever owned with a backup camera, which I love, and the first time I've had a car that has a control to raise the height of the driver's seat, which means that for the first time in several years I no longer have to sit on a cushion to drive (I used to be 5'4.5" tall, and now I'm 5'2", the natural result of aging).

Fortunately, all of my bumper stickers have magnetic backing, so I was able to retrieve them from the Echo and they now make the Dart look more like my car.

I've heard that it's possible to rent traffic cones; does anyone have any idea where? I really need to get a feel for the Dart's dimensions, and the easiest way I can think of to do that is to run into something - traffic cones in an empty parking lot seem like the best option.

I bet a car-parts store would know. Or look on the internet, that knows everything, it's the first place I go to for almost anything.
That's how I learned how to turn my concord grapes into wine which, by the way, has turned out really great, deep red, sweet and rather strong, with the last batch which I bottled yesterday and turned into 5 bottles, being a rose, not as sweet but not dry either and just as strong, gotta drink that stuff with caution as it sneaks up on you if you don't watch it. So I got 25 bottles from just two grapevines, have given away 5 bottles and I am working on one myself (I've got this little gadget that sucks the air out of the bottle so the wine stays nice after opening) with one smallish glass every evening while watching the news and some show on TV. Now to make some dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) from the grape leaves I put up in the spring when the leaves were new and tender.
