We may be moving to a home with a screened in porch and I would love to let Molly go out there. We have never used any flea prevention before since she’s only indoors plus we are in Arizona with an all stone landscape. Would you treat her automatically?

I would. Bugs and other insects will still get into the screened in porch somehow. And they don't care if your yard is all stone or not ;)

Ask the vet for a recommended flea and parasite preventative product.

If you do move into the house, make sure to carefully check the screens and make sure they are sturdy. A cat can push out a loose screen escape.

I would NOT treat if it isn't necessary. My cats are 5 years old now and have never had fleas, so why expose them unnecessarily to pesticides? I have had cats for over 50 years and have had two that have had fleas. Do not fix what ain't broke.
Just watch for excessive scratching and roll them over and inspect the area where the back legs join tegh body on their abdomen. The hair is much thinner there and fleas are easy to spot.

My suggestion would be to place food grade diatomaceous earth all around the exterior of the screen/netted area. That way if something does crawl through, it will die. Shouldn’t cost you more than $20 depending on the size of the porch.

Feeby is on our screened in patio all the time for the past 12 years I have had her, and (knock on wood) she has never gotten fleas.

If you brush her often, you should be able to see if she happens to get fleas, and then you could treat her. You can get flea treatments from the vet in a matter of minutes, should you find a flea on her - and, be able to treat her ASAP.
