Cat Enclosures And Gates

I thought I post a thread about cat enclosures - indoor and out ... Please add your own images of cool catio spaces, indoor cat rooms or solutions for containment.
We have to confine our cats at night because our boy seems to have horrible night vision and has gotten himself into trouble. When they were little they stayed in pop up play-yards but now that I have three wild teenagers - we needed a better solution. No worries - our cats are confined only over night until about 4.30 am and - they quite like their enclosure and spend a lot of time in there voluntarily when the door is open.

and this is our cat gate in front of the stairs - wire shelving with a plastic shelf liner on the cat side - so far they haven't figured out how to get past it and - the gate is easily removable

Oh by golly, that "cat gate" is pretty much what I REALLY could have used a year or so ago. That's just brilliant - thanks for sharing!

That is great. The cubes are fairly inexpensive and so versatile!

Here are two "catios". I am just a newbie in regards to carpentry skills (meaning I have none), so this was my idea. Sorry for all my junk in the pics; it has rained all but 17 days since August! I am so sick of mud and not being able to be outside.

I had a feeling all the pics didn't load. Here is the big catio. They are just dog pens that I cut out an opening and used a cat door in the window. Which I am not happy with the cat doors. On the small dog kennel it doesn't sit flush with the house and I need to build something so they can't escape. I have cardboard cut to fit and taped for now. They seem to respect it but most of the cats won't use this one because they don't like the small opening. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer

I tried the cat gate with wire shelves and zip ties with Krista back when she was more barfy and I didn’t understand IBD yet. If she barfed once, we’d weather out the rest of it in “cat jail” (my home office) until she was done.

(Bold move letting a barfy cat ride my belly!)

I only used 42” shelves. It worked out though. When she was feeling well enough to jump out, we no longer needed it.

wow - I love all those outdoor enclosures - I wish we had an easier access to the yard from the cat rooms ( we would need to construct a second story access down). The cat gate has truly been a blessing - the plastic liner prevents all climbing attempts - and I have monkey cats that will climb everything else! The kitties seem relieved that they can now spend the night together and not separated into two different play-yards and sleep in a big kitten pile - I hope they will still get along when they are adults - it is just too cute to watch them all piled up...
