Over the holidays, those self-warming cat beds went on sale at $20 off, so I bought one for Milly.
:bliss:

Now there is just the two-month Wait Time for her to decide if it passes muster for her to begin using it. That seems to be her average "Ignore-New-Things" mode... I buy a new thing, she waits 2 months until I am almost ready to donate it, then boom! she uses it. Water fountains, cat beds or trees, weird toys.
:rolleyes3:

What a great idea for a thread! I really missed the PAWsitive fundraiser. It always brought a little light into my day.

Although I haven't had very much snow since my move to the Midwest, (it's been in the 40s-50s here,) we finally got some this morning! It's very powdery and light, so no snowballs yet, but the cats are fascinated and perched on the windowsills. We are all pretty entertained by it!

I spent most of yesterday going with DH to doctor offices but the positive is that the different doctors and their staff were top notch, i.e. thorough, knowledgeable and friendly. If you have to go to the doctor it's always a plus when they are helpful.

We have a tall antique cabinet, and two of the girls are determined to jump onto the top of it from the dining room table. I wouldn’t care except Lily is almost 15 now and very arthritic. It’s just not safe for her. So I’ve had boxes and baskets piled high on the top to create a barrier so they won’t try. Not an attractive decorating motif! I asked The Spouse to build a frame to which I stapled fabric. We finished it today and voilà! Just a tad better looking than stacks of boxes and baskets. :)

I mentioned to a friend about my new library tote bag and showed her a picture. Now she wants one  I don't mind getting one for her. Proceeds from the tote bag sales goes towards funding the library's various programs for all ages :read:

It's snowing and cold, but here is something that just warm up your day. IMG_0468.JPG Miss Eleanor, our local TNR cat, is inside! Every morning she comes to the back door, and as soon as I open it, she scoots inside. I open the inner door a bit, so she and our other cats can sniff each other. No hissing yet from either side.

Thursday 1/10, either I'm getting used to the cold (highly doubt it) or it is getting warmer. The weatherman said for at least the next 5 days we have 3 storms heading this WAY! And with all the fires we need lots of it, hopefully not all in a weeks time. I noticed that when it rains MAX gets silly, maybe because he doesn't know what it is?!?!

It was good friends day for me, i.e. met one of the teachers I used to work with for lunch and a group of friends for dinner who I have known since our kids were in elementary school, (they're all grown up now).
It's always nice to get together with old friends. I'm seeing 2 of my old helpers
for dinner in a few weeks. They were such amazing girls and they kept me young.

We have a beautiful dilute tortie at the shelter that came from a hoarding situation. Last summer, Rosie was so ill with pancreatitis that after several weeks of treatment to no effect the contract vet recommended euthanasia. When it came time to do it, the vet couldn't bring herself to - fortunately, because Rosie recovered after a couple of months of foster care. She's now happily living in our feral colony.

I picked her up this morning and couldn't believe how heavy she is. She's gone from skin and bones to slightly tubby and looks wonderful.
