3 kittens (the adopted one is back for a week) in my room at night tearing up the place while my sick senior cat who mommies them watches. If I keep them out of my room they panic and cry at my door. My senior cat is locked in my room for the week to see if he pulls through. (He shouldn't go up and down the stairs and he can't eat the kitten food downstairs that he is allergic to.) What can I do to keep my 3 destructive minions occupied while I sleep? (Preferably quietly?) Any ideas? I run a fan on high to try to block out the noise and they still bug me.

Um...no. It's kittens. It's THREE kittens! That's a recipe for mayhem if ever there was one. Other than taking a wand toy and attempting to wear their fuzzy little bottoms out right before bed, with a small meal immediately after, I can't think of a thing. And at their ages, they may wear you out...in which case, you might sleep through it all, which would also work.

GOOD LUCK!

I'm guessing Dante sleeps in your bed with you. How does he feel about them screaming to come in when you lock them out?

Put their carrier/carriers in your bedroom... wait there is a plan here.

Are they still small? I'm sorry I can't remember. If they are small enough you could tuck them into their carrier for the night and throw a towel over it. SG was kinda like a parrot. She wouldn't nap, she wouldn't sleep, she was like a toddler who didn't nap. I put her in her carrier and she wouldn't stop complaining until I threw a large towel over it. Then, as a parrot, she fell asleep. She had to have the towel at night in the dark room too.

Okay, if they are too big to fit in one carrier can you put your two in one and visitor in another. Maybe give visitor a stuffed animal?

Hi. Agree with K Kflowers . Since your kittens are wreaking havoc at night, can you get a fairly good sized crate to bed them in when it is time to go to bed? At least that way they are confined to a limited space. Make the inside of the crate comfy - and, ideally, if big enough add a litterbox - and then cover, as said above.

Since they don't like being away from you and he-mommy (so sorry he is sick and my wishes for him to get better soon), hopefully you have a space in your bedroom to keep them there as well. They might not be quiet the first few nights, but if the area is dark and quiet, they may figure out it is time to rest, especially if they know they are near you and their 'adopted' mommy.

I think Bach Rescue Remedy is OK for kittens (need to verify) but you can place those drops in their ears, for easy administration, and it has a calming effect.

Keeping my fingers crossed that any/all of the tips you receive from your fellow members on this site will work!!!

BTW - You can always donate the crate to a needy no-kill shelter afterward. No sense in it going to waste after you have used it.

They are 3 month old minions. The hyper siamese looking minion is back for a week. They use their crate..... as a wrestling ring to hold fight club! :flail:

I have been keeping them out of my room as much as possible until I'm dead tired. Since I fostered them and bottle fed them a bit from 5 weeks on they are very attached to me. He-mommy or stepdad as I call him watches their antics mostly.... though I did see him wrestle with punk hyper minion this morning. It isn't looking good for my resident cat because his asthma is very bad and his breathing is labored. I have played with them but nothing can wear them out. Any toy ideas? Also I have a water loving minion driving me nuts as she tries to wade through the fountian. We finally gave up and gave her s small tub with floating toys in the shower. IMG_7486.JPG

Oh my! So sorry for step-dad. My best wishes to you and him. Keep us posted on him too, will you?

And, too funny about your 'swimmer'! As far as the kittens, here is an article on how to tire out a kitten (uh, in your case 3), that maybe will give you some ideas that you haven't already thought of.

A largish old-fashion metal dish pan makes a nice kitten pool.

If they aren't chewers take one leg of a pair of pantyhose and stuff it with old socks and sew the top shut. Practice snake hunt!!!

cloth dolls like Raggie Ann and Andy, only go for the generic.

ping pong balls - they're light enough not to break things when rebounded off of them, and delicate enough to collapse if you step on one, even barefoot.

When we had kittens whoever was at home during the day was supposed to keep an eye on them and wake them up whenever they went to sleep. But, as I said before, with SG we discovered kittens who don't nap are like toddlers who don't nap! Then you tuck Dante under your arm and run screaming into the night.
