Hi all,
My 4 months old kitten has an itchy ear, I attached a picture you can see some hair loss. Seems like it is mostly the one and she had a resolution treatment about a month ago. The insides of her ears are clean with no build up. She is currently on medications for an upper respiratory and eye infection and a probiotic. Any idea what could cause this? Thanks

Thanks for your responses! She is going to the vet on Monday so I will ask then as well. I have only had this kitten for a month and we have had giardia, a respiratory and eye infection, and now this
Would there be other symptoms of food allergies? Right now she has blue wilderness dry out at all times and for wet fancy feast kitten turkey, blue wilderness kitten chicken or salmon, or wellness core kitten chicken.
Could hay be an allergen for cats?

I do have an opinion on the Blue. I fed my cats Blue for years. Used to be a prime dry food. Suddenly they were throwing up a lot. That was bout 2 years ago. I did some research. Sure enough, Blue had changed their formula. I transitioned my cats to Orijen. The gastro problems stopped immediately. I won't touch Blue again. I know this might not be a terrific solution, but just sharing my experience.

I also want to add that if I kept switching my cats' wet foods from one brand to another, they would definitely have issues.

Another opinion...my kitten had terrible ear mites a couple of weeks ago. Vet used the back-of-the-neck drops on him. As far as I can tell he still has gunky ears - probably still has ear mites. He itches his ears. I am not pleased with those neck drops. The old-fashioned in the ear drops worked without fail. I'm going to request those when I take him back for itchy ears.

Thanks so much for your advice! I cleaned her ears and there wasn't any build up in them but I'll keep an eye on it. I will certainly talk to the vet about potential food allergies, all of her gastro symptoms cleared up after first the giardia was cleared and then after switching her off of the kitten chow, she's no longer having very smelly bowel movements or any diarrhea.

She does get into the hay quite a bit, try as I might to keep her out, but wasn't sure if like people that could be an allergen or not to cats.
