hi everyone, please please comment if you have any thoughts or suggestions as I’m scared and going crazy:

I have two cats and one has food allergies and was sick for a while until I put him on a good diet and he has been doing great for over a year. His only symptom was typically vomiting. All of a sudden on Sunday, my boy started to have horrible diarehha, no vomiting, still acting normal and eating, but terrible diarehha multiple times a day. He still has diarehha and I took him to the vet and they gave me medicine and took his blood, he has no fever and blood tests were normal but still no cure for diarehha.

NOW TODAY all of a sudden my girl kitty who has always been very healthy and never sick has gotten very sick. She has horrible diarehha and vomiting multiple times. I have NO CLUE what’s going on.

She has to have gotten something from him right??

I took stool samples in today to test for all parasites and I am running extra blood work on pancreatitis and B12 levels. But what in the world would make them both sick and what could she catch from him?

They have been tested for Feline leukemia and don’t have that, they aren outdoor cats only indoor, no exposure to other animals.

I am so confused and scared. They are going back to the vet tomorrow but I don’t even know what to do or where to go from here? I don’t think they both would’ve gotten into something of the same thing, and her symptoms didn’t show up until 2 days after his.

I do have a real Christmas tree up if that could be making them sick but I don’t see any needles or anything in their poop.

Any ideas what could be affecting them both?? I’m so sad

So you think it may be the tree?? I’m going to throw it out

But they both eat different food! So I have no idea. My little girl won’t stop throwing up and it’s just foam:(

I’m so heartbroken, she seems so sick out of no where

Since they're eating different foods, it's very likely the tree, they could be drinking the water out of the tree stand. Be sure and mention your concerns about the tree to your vet. :vibes::hugs:

I have the water blocked off! So they can’t get at it and I don’t find any needles in their poop or vomit.

Do trees have pesticides on them??

What can one cat catch from another because she has to have gotten this from him.

She keeps throwing up foam . My boy is better and eating but still has diarehha. I don’t know what to have to vet even do, I’m so scared

No I need to change it but would that cause a sudden start of diarrhea in my boy and spread it to my girl a day later? I’ve been using the same stuff for years and never really empty the litter but always just add new stuff.
I’m going to buy a new box and new litter incase it’s some sort of parasite

My cats got diarrhea and vomiting once when I didn't change the litter often enough.
I dump out clumping litter once a month and scrub out the litterboxes.
I dump out non-clumping litter once a week and scrub out the litterboxes.

Really? Wow just all of a sudden? Hm that could be it, I will change it out tomorrow and clean the box, thank you for the suggestion. Maybe it just has a bacteria growing in it that I wasn’t aware of

You can try some canned Pumpkin to help with the poops. If it is uncontrolled vomiting did they get into a toy or other objects and eat it? I've never had my cats get sick from the Christmas tree but that was 10+ years ago and who knows what people are spraying on them.

Did your cats get into chocolate, or other human tyoe foods? The vet could test for Giardia...sometimes that's a stinker to diagnose.

You can try changing out the kitty litter tomorrow since it's so late in the day right now. Make sure you use soap and water to clean it well. I use a few drops of dawn dish detergent.

At the vets you may want to get some belly xrays if the vomiting is more than usual. What about chemicals used around the house? Any sprays or perfumes? Some people use that spray on snow on the tree. Be sure to not use tinsel on the tree either. Cats are notorious for eating it. Basically you have to baby proof the home from chew toy type things.

If you can get your cats to wait a few hours before eating again I would try feeding meat baby food to see if they keep it down. It's easier for them to digest. Gerber puts out some great meat baby foods. Cannec pumpkin helps too. Some cats hate it. Some love it. My girl licks from my finger. My angel Pumps hated it. I had to smear a bit onto the top of her mouth. It usually helps within 12 hours of or so. Just plain Pumpkin.

If the tree is affecting them is most likely whatever pesticide they sprayed on the trees or the tree oil is on their fur and they lick it and it makes them sick.

But I’m thinking she caught a bug from my boy because her symptoms came 24 hours after he started and they share a littler box.

I just wanted her to stop vomiting so I can get food in her, that’s my biggest worry. My boy isn’t vomiting at all so food stays down but he has diarehha but he’s hydrated at least.

It’s gojng to be a long night
